We go to Kapolei Jenn Korean BBQ all the time! Service can be a bit slow sometimes I think they don’t always have enough servers but honestly, the food makes up for it every time. The side dishes are always plenty and delicious, and most of the time everything arrives right on time.

It’s such a great spot for kids too. There’s so much variety different kinds of meat, lots of sides, and a big selection of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. They update the menu regularly, so there’s always something new to try. My husband, the kids, and I usually come about once a week, sometimes every two weeks, and we always leave happy. Definitely recommend this place!

After waiting just to put a take out order, waited 45 more minutes to get my food, they forgot my fries, waited another 20 minutes to get the order wrong, fries was very small portion size that looked nothing like the picture on the online menu for $20! Looked very unappealing, like slop. After complaining to the manager about returning the bulgogi fries, she offered me another plate she would personally make for me at no charge. So waited another 15 minutes….. The plate she made was actually cooked well. The other food that came out first, which was already cold was over cooked, actually very burnt beef bulgogi, no flavors in the pork belly, and it looked like slop. The manager cooked better than the actual cook! Shout out to the manager there at kapolei, she was very professional and polite and made thing right immediately.

We had such a wonderful dining experience! Our server, Liz provided outstanding customer service, attentive, friendly, and very professional. She made us feel truly welcome and checked on us at just the right times. We especially appreciated the calm and pleasant atmosphere she maintained. It made our meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Worst part first: My table was sat next to another table that was half way through their food, there was a plate of brisket sitting on their from the time we were sat for an additional 15 mins. I overheard the table tell our waiter they did not want the brisket plate any longer and so the waiter took the meat from the table. not even 5 mins later our food is coming out and another server stated “do you guys like brisket? we found a extra plate of it” I recognized the plate immediately, it was the plate from the table next to us… disgusting and unsanitary. I declined and explained that i just saw that plate come from another table to which the server seemed stunned and then took it away, hopefully disposing of it but hard to tell. Food dropped off at a table should never be served to another table regardless of the situation thats how you get food poisoning…

Additionally, The place hasn’t been open that long, its one of the newer food places, chairs torn and worn out not suitable for a restaurant to allow people to sit and when we left some of the chairs plastic leather was stuck to our clothes just falling apart. The service is subpar, we received sodas with no syrup so it was sour carbonated water basically. This isn’t the first time either, service is just not good there, I’ve tried to give it a few additional tries in hopes they would improve but to no avail. Overall a terrible experience I will never recommend this place to anyone. I will not be coming back.

Our takeout experience at Gen’s Kapolei was honestly terrible. We ordered chicken and brisket plates, and both were really disappointing. The chicken was undercooked, the brisket was overly burnt, and the portion sizes were nowhere near what was advertised online. When we opened our plates, they were super sloppy and poorly put together – it looked like someone had already eaten out of them. For $30 per plate, that’s unacceptable.

This wasn’t our first bad experience here, either. The last time we dined in, our server was sweet, but the food runner had horrible customer service. She slammed our food down on the table, had a terrible attitude, and was cussing under her breath, which was gross and unprofessional. Because of that, we decided to give them another chance with takeout instead of dining in, but the food ended up being even worse.

Dining in is okay at best, but based on our experience, I do not recommend ordering takeout from this location at all.

Food: meh, overly salty and fatty. Ordered vegetables 3 times. Gave up when they never came. Cockroaches weren’t on the menu, but available in the bathroom if that’s your thing.

Atmosphere: floors so slick you could host Olympic curling on it. Recommend some degreaser. Zero smoke evacuation or ventilation. Feels like a hookah lounge.

Service: Server dropped a grill on the table, knocking over a bunch of side dishes. No problem, accidents happen. Server proceeds to just leave overturned bowls and food spillage all over the table. Asked 3 times for some napkins please or something to wipe up all the spilled food. Finally got a few napkins and they just left all the overturned bowls and food all over the table.

I’d say major Waffle House vibes, but that’s an insult to the fine folks at Waffle House.

Quite fun. Excellent service (we had a party of 10 for a weekday lunch; the resto was about 1/2 full). Be prepared for an active eating experience. A bowl of white sticky rice & four little kimchi / banchan dishes greeting each guest. The kimchi is definitely made for US palates, being very mild and slightly sweet.
So, you sit and look at the menu and tell your serve which meats (and one option that is all-vegetable) you want, and they bring out the plates of raw meat (available w or w/o various sauces) or veg (no sauce) and you cook them on your table’s grill.
A server will change out your grilltop when it gets sticky with cooked sauces.
The slices of marinated daikon radish are good for wrapping the cooked meat.
This place is all-you-can eat, which seems wasteful, but people sure pack it in.
The appetisers include japchae glass noodles & fried calamari (3 large rings with a sweetish “asian” dipping sauce). The food, quality-wise, is fine. It’s more for the experience.
Nice was that there was no blaring music; the restaurant is lively enough without that !
Family-friendly, large-party-friendly, child-friendly, etc.

Came two days in a row (one for a birthday, and a friend hangout). Servers are nice and work hard, the actual service is just slow because they are understaffed and serving too many tables at a time per person. Even when we were looking to wave someone downto order, staff barely passed through because of how understaffed the front of house is.

Both days I left pretty disappointed because I felt full not because I ate alot, but because the food settled in my stomach with how long we waited for the meat.

The first day was a Thursday evening and we sat right before the dinner rush (~6pm). Our server was attentive but slow as she was managing 4 other tables (it wasn’t even dinner rush yet). She forgot a couple small items like sides and sauces, but the meats and cooked dishes were accounted for. Despite being overworked she was still very pleasant. The atmosphere was very hot, and our grills were not changed often so the smoke inhalation was high and the tempurature of the restaurant was unreasonably hot – my legs were melted to the seat and my sister had to take a step outside or she’d pass out.

Day two – Friday night dinner rush (~8pm). We were a party of 5 and took about 45minutes to get sat. After being seated we got our soju bombs and all our food came out before our water – the water came after the second serving of meat. Again, the server forgot small items but he was on top of all the meat and cooked food. Tempurature wise it was not as bad as Thursday but still very sticky, another table even brought their own travel fans and were using it by the end of the night.

Food
Ordered off the standard dinner menu both nights. The meat quality was alright if you ordered stuff with sauce, but as soon as any cut had fat on it you’d see 30%-40% white because they don’t trim the fat. Otherwise than that the marinated items are really tasty and have a ton of good flavor!

Overall, I think my experiences would have been so much better if it was not during the dinner rushes – that way the overworked servers can be more attentive per table and you get your food out faster. Avoid cuts with fat on it, cause you’re likely to get a big chunk of untrimmed fat on the slab of meat. The staff is really kind and great service, they just need more. For the price point, you expect so much better.
