Gem City Diner is such a cozy, feel-good breakfast spot. The service is super friendly, and the menu has a great mix of classic dishes and fun, creative combos. I tried the Western omelet and the Gem city omelet which had blackberry jam, burnt ham and brie omelet, and wow, I didn’t know I needed that in my life.
Our server also recommended the special waffle with marmalade and champagne whipped cream, which quickly became my favorite (minus the champagne part ).
Had a great time here and will definitely be back soon.

We were in town for the weekend visiting Presque Isle State Park and we had breakfast here both days. The prices are good, the atmosphere is friendly, and the Eggs Benedict is fantastic.

Though this isn’t the classic and nostalgic diner (or dinor in these parts) in construction- Gem City delivers on the enjoyable and filling dining experience that earns the name. My family went for brunch on a Tuesday morning before heading gome home after a few days away in Erie, and we got a meal that made for a pleasant drive home.
The restaurant is pleasantly and tastefully designed with a New American flair, and seemed very clean. They were quite busy even at the kind of awkward weekday time we visited, so service was a bit slow, but it was pleasant all the same.
My wife, my father and myself were all intrigued by and ordered the Gem City Omelet, which had burnt ham, blackberry jam and Wisconsin Brie. It was a unique and delicious omelet, and the “Smashbrowns” were also done well. My mother and my kids all got French Toast and Pancakes, and were happy with their selections as well.
Overall, this is a nice place for breakfast if in the Erie/Presque Isle area, and I may have to try my hand sometime at making their namesake omelet, since it was that unique and enjoyable.

What a wonderful Breakfast! The omelettes were fabulous. We had the avocado and the signature. Both were delicious. The multi grain toast was refreshing. Everything was clean and the wait staff was very courteous and accommodating. Best breakfast in Erie I’ve ever had.

Gem City Dinor is an absolute must-visit if you’re in Erie! From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with a cozy atmosphere that gives you that classic diner vibe, but with a unique twist. The music is old school and awesome. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the start to finish. Customer first, you want for nothing. We got to meet Rich and Elaine(owners) awesome people.
Avery, our watress was smiles from start to finish and we wanted for nothing. Good people who made our trip to Erie a memorable one.
The menu offers a wide variety of comfort food, and everything I’ve tried has been amazing.
Their breakfast options are unbeatable — the portions are generous, and the flavors are spot on. Today I had the Gem City Omellete which is to die for. My wife had the Eggs Benedict also cooked to perfection. I also highly recommend trying one of their daily specials; they’re always creative and packed with flavor.
What truly stands out is the attention to detail. The food is not only delicious but made with care, using fresh, high-quality ingredients and locally sourced where possivle supporting the local community. You can tell that the team takes pride in everything they serve. The prices are also very reasonable, especially considering the portion sizes.
Whether you’re a local or just passing through Erie, Gem City Dinor is a hidden gem that shouldn’t be missed. They get busy quick so get there early but the good news is the wait was short and worth it
I can’t wait to go back and try more from their menu!

Saturday morning, 950am arrival. The place was full and we grabbed a booth for the three of us. I had the impression we would have a wait (30 minutes of this writing and waiting on the breakfast order). The kitchen was slammed.
Eggs Benedict, Polenta with eggs and spinach, chocolate chip pancakes.
Everything tasted good.
The polenta was firm, it lacked flavor, and really didn’t seem to drive home any desire to have again. The eggs were cooked well, the smashed potatoes were a hit.
The eggs Benedict was decent, the English muffin toasted on the presented side only.
Coffee, like another review, is agreeably disappointing. Sourced locally (across the street) has no real endearing qualities.
The vibe is nice inside, I’d try it again in the future. Perhaps when there is a bit less congestion.

Locally owned breakfast place. Stopped in with my son to grab a bite. We were early enough (8:30 am) so we didn’t have to wait for a table. As the morning progressed, eventually there was a waiting line. Waitress was prompt and courteous. Only stopped by once to refill my coffee. My son ordered basic eggs and toast. I got the special cherry cheesecake crepes. You can tell from the picture that the dish spent too much time under the heat lamp, the whipped cream was partially melted. Not a big thing. They tasted great. However at $14 they seemed a bit pricey. Shame on me for not asking the price first. It’s a nice place to bring out of town guests who want to try local. They have also partnered with Mill Creek right next door. Will I gone again? Yes, wholeheartedly.

First trip here to this awesome Diner …Had breakfast , and we’re so glad we chose this place! Had: Giambotta Omelettes..Grilled Veggies Omelette, Avocado Omelette .. & pancakes. The Omelettes came with ‘Smashbrowns’ ( which are thick potato chunks slightly smashed .. and are great!) and your choice of toast.. the bread was great! French press coffee… pancakes .. the pancakes were perfect ! Thick and just right! Coffee is roasted right across the street at ‘Mill Creek Coffee’. We loved the ambience!! Very warming and nice lighting ! Very friendly staff . Great overall dining experience!! Will definitely be back !!

This is a local Gem. If you want a pleasant surprise and experience for the palate and mind, you must try this place. The staff have no turnover, so they will learn your name and remember you. They are even better than the food.
This is a perfect example of employees making a business successful and the food complimenting the service. Don’t get me wrong, the food is amazing!!!! You can’t compare good service in today’s environment to yesterday’s. The owners have built a culture that has driven the servers to stay and share their excitement to be there with you.
JUST TRY IT!!!!!
