French Restaurant in Wandsworth – Mixed Experience
We went here for dinner with high hopes and a love for French food. The restaurant had air con, which was welcome on a warm evening, but it still felt a bit hot inside.
We started with oysters, which were fresh and good quality, and a goat’s cheese starter that was absolutely delicious – creamy, tangy, and perfectly balanced. So far, so good.
For mains, we all went for the steak bavette. The steaks were juicy, tender, and cooked exactly how we’d asked – really well done in that sense.
One odd thing though: one of us ordered the bavette with sauce on top, and it came without any salad. When we asked why, the waiter simply said, “That’s just how it comes if you have the sauce on top.” It wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the menu, and it felt a bit strange to remove part of the dish without telling the customer.
We had a bottle of red wine which was smooth and easy to drink, but honestly, it felt overpriced for the type of wine it was.
The biggest let-down was the number of flies inside. They kept landing on our food and we were constantly shooing them away, which made it hard to properly enjoy the meal.
Overall, the food itself was good – especially the starters and the perfectly cooked steaks – but the warm temperature, the flies, and that odd salad situation meant the experience wasn’t as enjoyable as it could have been.

A nice and cosy atmosphere with an authentic vibe that feels like you’re in a proper French bistro. The steak tartare seems to get more delicious as it’s expertly prepared in front of you, with a rich creamy flavour that melts on your tongue. The snails were as equally mouth watering in a lovely buttery sauce. The tartine and croque madame also hit the spot on as it was covered in melted cheesy goodness. We couldn’t help but have a pancake drizzled in cognac to wrap up a thoroughly indulgent but delicious lunch. Will be back for more great tasting treats soon.

We had a lovely meal at Gazette celebrating our Grandma’s 99th birthday. As soon as we went through the door we were incredibly well looked after. The team made sure we had an accessible table and that our grandma was comfortable. The food was delicious and the service by Robbie and Chintan was faultless. We have been coming to Gazette for years (as it’s our Grandma’s favourite) and we can’t recommend enough. We hope to see you next year for birthday no.100! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It was a lovely meal. Food was good, portions were generous and overall value for money was great. Very pleasant people working there, professional but relaxed and approachable. I really hope Chintan gets his bottle of wine Gatien was truly a charming host. I would come back and recommend to my friends.

We had lunch at Gazette on 25 January to celebrate our mother’s 96th birthday. We had two dogs in tow, and mum’s large travel rollator, so were given the table we requested at the front of the building overlooking Trinity Road, so that the dogs would not be in the way of the serving staff (the dogs managed to be in the way at times as inquisitive noses tried to sniff our food as it arrived and the serving staff took it all in their stride). The food was excellent and the people working there could not have been kinder – they made a big fuss of mum, and insisted in giving her a free glass of champagne. We all though the food and service was excellent, and it has a nice and welcoming atmosphere. We had not been to this Gazette for quite a while, and it was reassuring to see it is still popular and seems to be doing well.

Had a lovely time for our anniversary dinner. When the staff found out it was our anniversary they gave us a glass of champagne which was a lovely touch! Could bring our dog too which was great. Second visit and will certainly go back again.

We’ve never had anything other than exceptional service, value, and quality at Gazette Trinity. Our meals there are memorable, and the menu changes frequently enough that we are always trying new and exciting dishes. I popped in for breakfast on a cold and wet Sunday morning in January. Although they didn’t open until 10am, Gatien kindly let me take a seat before that and made me a coffee. When the kitchen opened, I ordered the Naughty Benedicte and spinach with garlic – both absolutely delicious. And the service was exemplary. Will definitely be back.
