Imagine a reconstructed bar where instead of just regular bar food and regular drinks, it’s been upgraded to have a quality alcohol selection to accompany your Asian style bar foods.
They offer a full bar of alcohol that also includes some sake and a good selection of Japanese whiskey. Their bar also includes a great selection of different types of alcohol that you wouldn’t see at your regular local bar.
This is great for a social gathering as there is a nice bar seating area as well as a lot of space for large groups. The service is great as it is similar to any other bar. You can get fast service at the bar or a server will come around and take your order(s).
We tried a couple items from their mochi menu and items from their regular menu as well. The age dashi mochi was delicious. I loved the texture of the mochi. The red bean soup with mochi was a miss for us. The mochi itself was again fantastic but the red bean soup seemed off.
The miso cod entree was delicious and immediately inhaled. The curry stew was good but the beef bites were tough and dry. We ordered the sashimi don and it almost didn’t arrive by the time we got tired of waiting and wanted to leave.
The service staff were nice but seemed inexperienced. We had significant waits between dishes. We spent most of the hour sporadically waiting for food rather than eating.
I appreciate that they took the item off our bill and still gave us the dish anyways since it was already being made by the time we asked to cancel it. It boogles the mind what could take an hour to serve a sashimi don.
I would come back to try other items. The food tasted freshly made and were executed well. I also appreciated the new year mochi celebration!
⭐ Highly recommended: the French fries, mini burgers, and crème brûlée are absolute must-tries!
I can’t wait to come back again!
Delicious, handcrafted food for a phenomenally low price
The burger was cooked to perfection with no detail spared. The meat was so delicate that it was literally melting in my mouth. The furikake fries were a delightful treat. Do not put any toppings on them. Try them the way they come. I would recommend that for everything that I sampled at this establishment today.
The chef even allowed us to sample an exclusive creation that is not yet on the menu. I would definitely recommend this place. If you’re looking for a good vibe spot, a place to grab a bite with a date, or just a place for a good conversation at the bar. Display just opened about two months ago and it needs some exposure. I encourage everyone, both local and tourist, to give this place a try.
My favorite dish was the Pan Roast — the sauce was rich, flavorful, and just melted in your mouth. An absolute must-try. The Lobster Rolls were another standout. Lobster rolls can be hit or miss, but theirs was fresh, well-seasoned, and delicious. The Truffle Fries had the perfect balance — you could taste the truffle without it being overpowering. The Wagyu Sliders were juicy, full of flavor, and very satisfying. The Yellowtail Crudo was fresh. I personally love a lot of yuzu, and while I wished it had a little more, it was still delicious.
For drinks, I was impressed by the Matcha Colada. Tequila, coconut, and matcha isn’t a combination I ever thought of, but it worked so well together — refreshing and surprisingly delicious.
Dessert was a highlight as well. The Matcha Mousse Cake was light with just the right amount of matcha presence and bitterness, not overly sweet. The Crème Brûlée was excellent, and my favorite part was the cookie topping.
We ended the night with Lychee Shots, which were smooth, refreshing, and the perfect way to wrap up the meal.
Lastly it was nice to see a local artist be featured in the restaurant (@prettydone).
Overall, Nisei delivered an amazing dining experience from start to finish. I’m looking forward to going back.
The lobster rolls were amazing but the shrimp pan roast is the real star. If you get one thing make it that. Between the ajitama egg sando and the wagyu slider you can’t pick a winner so get both. And if you’re really going for it the wagyu meatball AND uni pasta is an absolute must . I can’t recommend either enough.
Shoutouts to Natasha for the S tier service. She made the ten times night even better!
