Friendly customer service and fire BBQ. What more can a man want? My favorite side was the loaded potato salad, and between the smoked sausage and brisket, the brisket hit the ball out of the park. Nice and fatty and smoky. Those baked beans are also delicious as well. Keep it up guys!

Update- returned and found it even better than before.
Easy parking, new reconstruction, and a really nice atmosphere. The restaurant is super clean and has plenty of seating. Unlike the other restaurants in town, they are consistently open for business and sincerely want that business. Usually, one of the owners is on hand staying on top of things. The staff is very friendly. They are open early for breakfast but primarily serve barbecue, salads, sandwiches, and sides. The menu offers a nice selection and dessert too. I found the food good and plan to return. The fact that it’s only about 10 minutes from Gonzales and is located in a historic building is a plus. It is a great place to meet for business and pleasure. Recommend.

I relocated from Chicago to Donaldsonville and moved into a house 5 minutes walking distance from Gaston’s. Moving from such a populated city to such a small town has its downsides.. the variety of restaurants available are minute. Out of all the diners in town though.. Gaston’s is the one to beat! Lydia and her son and husband both named David are cool people to chat to! They’re friendly and make it a comfortable environment. I’ve never had bad food from this place. The pork wings are amazing, when they’re able to get them though that is.. despite not always having our favorite, we enjoy everything we’ve tasted from Gaston’s! The potato salad is to die for!!

Not friendly, buffet only and $20 a person. Food was sitting out for long period of time and asked for something fresh on it. Buns for their burgers were like rocks seriously i could have used it to knock someone out and salad bar let’s just say was a joke.
Now the one star was because it wouldn’t let me give zero stars.
I suggest go somewhere else for BBQ. Their photos online was no where close to reality.
Dry food not my thing but cobbler was good. So there’s A compliment the brisket after requesting fresh food that hadn’t sat for hours. Brisket we can say yes to
I do believe if had we ordered off a menu I believe could’ve been better. Being from Dallas I do give fair reviews if deserved.
I should’ve taken more photos.

Southern Hospitality at Its Finest: 5 Stars for Gaston’s BBQ & Beer! Nestled in the historic heart of the city, this gem exceeded our expectations. Immediate, friendly greetings set the tone for exceptional customer service. The food? A delightful journey into authentic Southern cuisine. Meeting the owner, who took a genuine interest in our visit, added a personal touch. The restaurant’s ambiance, adorned with local art displays, enhanced our dining experience. So good, we returned for an amazing breakfast the next morning. Little did we know, Gaston’s is also an inn with charming rooms above – a hidden delight we’ll be sure to explore on our next visit. Highly recommended!

Would give more stars if possible. Great appearance. Clean and orderly. Good people and service. Came in a bit late but was greeted and served excellent Smoked Ribeye and loaded baked potato. Glad the “cafe” around the corner was too busy to let me in. Turned out for the better. Next time I wont pass this place for any other. Will come again and recommend to others.

Always on the hunt for food, I stumbled across this gem! One of my faves closed shop not long ago, so I lost that option. Well, this looks like a new favorite on the list. I got the 3 meat combo with ribs, pulled pork, and chicken… I chose potato salad and baked beans as my sides! All the meats were seasoned well, and the sides were delicious! Laid back atmosphere with 80’s music playing! ❤️

I visited Gaston’s to try their featured Sweet Trails cocktail. The presentation of the drink is a true work of art but needs a little more Maker’s Mark added. The Mahi Mahi was pretty good, but it could use a light glaze. The salad and texas toast were very fresh.
The servers were very nice and attentive. I will definitely be back to try the BBQ dishes.

Had to pass through Donaldsonville and stopped here. The food was really good. The mac and cheese was perfect. I spent about $18 with the tip. That isn’t much more than I would have spent for a meal at Wendy’s or what have you. Check this place out.

never been here before. looked up local food places. saw other reviews and figured i would try out the ribeye. the lemonade is good, the ribeye was really good. ordered med well, cooked perfectly. baked potato was good and hot (they have loaded but i like plain), it literally steamed for 15 mins. huge baked potato. owner came by to see how things were. waitress was very kind. food was out fairly quick. only thing is salt shakers are quick to dump salt so careful pouring the salt. if back in the area will go again.
