Limited selections of authentic Japanese street food located inside the Arcade building.

the karaage was soooooo good. juicy, unbelievably tender, all contained within a wonderful crispy-but-not-oily potato starch batter. served with a acidic soy based sauce to contrast.

Very tasty and there are lots of veggies in okonomiyaki. Tokoyaki is made in a way that makes you feel very content.

‘Open’ but not currently seating for whatever reason even though there are empty chained off tables. This means that you need to sit at Ganko Ittetsu which is always crowded, even if you don’t want ramen. Or you can order takeout from the hostess…but everything is ‘out of stock’. Unfortunate.

Gantetsu-Ya is a great new addition Ganko Ittetsu Ramen restaurant group. I went around 1:45 pm on a weekday and there was no line–score! If you want to dine in, they have about 3 tables. Similar to its sister ramen restaurant across the hall, it’s a cozy little nook that’s perfect for grabbing a quick bite.

Delicious okonomiyaki. This is not a review of the ramen place across the way. Only a few dishes on the menu: Takoyaki (octopus dumplings), pork gyoza, and 5 types of Hamamatsu-style okonomiyaki. We had the original okonomiyaki and the Negi-Mayo style. Both were delicious. I’d go back there again, but I’ve been to Japan many times and enjoy this type of food. The wife was not so excited.

Their gyoza are delicious, but their kara-age is out of this world!!! I have a hard time resisting the urge – no… the NEED to stop in and get some to go every time I’m in Coolidge. It’s crazy good, and their sister restaurant Ganko Ittetsu makes this the best stop for casual Japanese eats in the city.

Excellent and unusual Japanese spot right in the heart of Coolidge Corner. Why this place is not constantly swamped is a mystery to me given that it is right across the hall from its sister restaurant which always has a line out the door. Food is savory and very well. I have eaten here several times in the last couple of months, and my only gripe is that wait times for an order once placed can be quite long, exceeding 20 minutes in most cases. That’ said I definitely recommend checking out this hidden jewel.

The best Takoyaki!

Great when they can fulfill the order but often end up with being told they can’t make takoyaki because the machine’s broken. Or can’t make the okonomiyaki because they run out of a certain ingredients, maybe better supply management would be good.
