This was my second visit to Gambino’s Pizza in a week, and unfortunately, it confirmed that the first bad experience wasn’t just a fluke — it’s the norm here.
To start, customer service is almost nonexistent. I had to ring a doorbell just to be acknowledged, and even then, no one came. It actually took an off-duty employee walking in for their shift to notice I was standing there waiting. That’s not just unprofessional — it’s flat-out disrespectful to paying customers. No customers in the store, and everyone just hanging in a huddle not paying any attention.
Once you do get their attention, don’t expect anything to move quickly. The staff seem totally uninterested in urgency, and the wait times are unreasonable, whether you’re dining in or ordering takeout. There’s no communication, no apology, and no effort to keep things running smoothly.
Even worse, I noticed several hygiene issues that raise real concerns about health code compliance. Staff were touching their hair (which was left down and uncovered) and handling kitchen items without washing their hands. In any food service environment, that’s unacceptable — it shows a lack of training and care for the customer’s safety.
Two visits, same result: slow service, unsanitary practices, and staff who appear more inconvenienced by your presence than ready to serve. Gambino’s might survive on its name or location, but if things don’t change fast, I can’t imagine many people choosing to return.
As a restaurant general manger for multi-million dollar stores in DFW. I really do hope they figure it out. I did give it two visits to make sure it wasn’t a fluke…we all have bad days.
