Galloway Grill is a business with an old game plan….. Serve Great Burgers And Ice Cold Beer. We serve a lot more than that but that is the core of our Bar & Grill Menu. Galloway Grill is a Come as You are establishment that used to be a Tavern/Pool Room. The Heart of Galloway is still in tact and we look forward to serving a variety of patrons from all walks of life. We have tried to feature Missouri Products wherever we can. From our 10 Draft beers, many from Missouri Breweries, to our Well Liquor, which features McCormick Distilling Products from Weston Missouri. This was recommended as one of the better burger places in Springfield, so our family of five tried it this past week. The place is a older bar that has not been updated and needs a deep cleaning. We all had something different and there was nothing anyone thought was great. It is lower end bar food that is very high priced. It was $100 plus tip and nobody had any alcohol.

Stopped by with my adult children and Brother . Never have been here . Of course forgot to get pics .
Greeted immediately by a nice young lady . Sat and had drinks in just a few minutes.
She explained the specials and took our app order .

Mozzarella sticks
Pretzels were soft and plenty of salt on them. Received 2 pretzels and queso dip. Thick and rich queso dip. Stuck to the pretzels perfectly.
8 mozzarella sticks . Just wasn’t enough for 5 people the marinara sauce was tasty , thick , chunky, sweet n savory . Other words perfect and I don’t like marinara
Apps were delivered in a very timely manner
Entrees included
2 Yellow fin Sandwiches- Grilled to your own liking , topped with lettuce , onion , tomato, pickle and their secret sauce, on a soft warm toasted bun. We both got the beer battered fries .
I didn’t think this would fill me up, but looks are deceiving.
1st daughter got the Redbird – Juicy tender and spicy grilled chicken sandwich. So good
Galloway Chicken . The same tender juicy grilled chicken but with ham and cheese on multigrain bread . Tasty (I however would rather have a bun)
The last daughter had Grilled Chicken sandwich add on cheddar and bacon .
Again perfectly cooked Chicken .
So the negatives
I had ordered a cup of Chicken Gumbo and had never received it. I wasn’t charged for it. I would think the Server just forgot about it . However , it was perfectly fine. As I mentioned, my entree was entirely enough to fill me up. I didn’t even let her know. No harm no foul.
And if I had any suggestions… it would be to add
Hand battered Onion rings .
It is a bar and can get loud . And the women’s restroom can tend to get busy and have a line

We have eaten here several times always great food & service. Our waitress was great, yet we sat for over 45 minutes waiting for our food. The place was not overly busy so no excuse there. She stopped back by our table and said let me check on your order of which we were told ours was up next. Still waiting 10 more minutes guy stops by our table with the excuse of a small kitchen. When our food finally arrived waitress said they had a new cook. Well I hope today was his last day. Don’t give meaningless excuses and they were. He had the nerve to say i hope the food was worth the wait. It wasn’t.

I called ahead for a party of 8, we were hoping for outdoor seating but it was full, so we were seated immediately inside. Biggest complaint was it took over an hour to receive our food from the time the order was put in. We watched others come in after us, be seated get their food eat and left before our group got ours. This place used to be nice but its gone drastically downhill in the quality of food and service. The manager is an older lady has a bit of an attitude when she talks down to the younger employees which is always unpleasant hearing when trying to enjoy dinner. The quality of the food has decreased so much. Came here for years and everything tasted fresh and from scratch, now its like reheated pre-made food. This is especially bad when you factor in the cost being so much higher for what has basically turned into cafeteria food. The several times I went after dark the environment felt uncomfortable as most of the people were waay older, rough looking men who were drunk. I asked my friends to walk me to my car after because it just felt unsafe. Definitely dont recommend when there are so many other places in Springfield that don’t have customers that make you feel unsafe around, decent priced fresh food and managers that arent mean boomers.

My daughter found this out-of-the-way gem with her college friends, so we had to try it for MSU Family Weekend. She was right – great food, great service! We arrived 10 mins before the kitchen closed, but not a problem. All our food – burgers, hot ham and cheese. pork tenderloin, battered fries – was great, but the tuna steak was AMAZING!! A nice surprise!

Galloway surprised me. The outside almost had an uninviting, backwoods bar vibe but that was not the case at all. Extremely friendly and professional staff. Every COVID precaution taken into consideration (perhaps the only place I’ve eaten at since the pandemic started that follows the ServSafe COVID Precautions). The interior is full of history and has an open, comfortable feel about it. But, to the point: the food sets a new standard for bars. I had the Trail Burger with Beer Battered Fries. The fries were perfectly seasoned, almost reminding me of east coast boardwalk fries, and crisp. The burger was juicy and cooked well. The BBQ sauce complimented the burger and fries. The service was quick. I have no complaints. It was the best burger I’ve had at a restaurant in years. From start to finish, it was a great dinning experience. Highly recommend! Also, give the Coffee Stout from Mother’s Brewing a try. Deep, slightly bitter flavor.
