This place is awesome. The wife and I stumbled upon it tonight and plan on coming back. We tried a few different plates and though they were all fantastic! Drunken Noodles, Pad Thai, and Pad See Iew!
The service is great and the wait staff are very friendly!
It’s very clean and the atmosphere is good also. The lighting is on the low side but that doesn’t bug us at all. There is also an outdoor eating area.
It wasn’t very busy the night we went and from the looks of it, it’s not a busy dinner spot. Great place for a quite evening.

Ordered the Pad see ew w/ beef, 4 star (their max), salad rolls and Tom yum soup 4 star to go. Easy to call and order.
Pad see ew: good flavor profile that had proper ingredients and was not oily at all. Great portion sizes. Wish there was an ounce or two more off beef to justify the price. It had a nice kick but wasn’t off the charts spice level for my taste.
Salad rolls: phenomenal fresh ingredients! They had a chili sauce instead of a peanut sauce which I absolutely loved and would order again and again.
Tom yum soup: heavy tomato flavor, good soup, did not disappoint, spice flavor was accurate.
Overall, a really good place to eat Thai food. Higher meat content is all we wish.

If you are reading this review, this restaurant is a MUST for you to try. This place was a three minute walk from the Hotel Murano where we were staying and decided to try it on a whim. I am so glad we stopped by because this place is amazing. I ordered the drunken noodles with spring rolls and it was delicious! Not only that, but our order took around 15 minutes to be ready and was great proportions for the price. They have gluten free options for their dishes too! Highly recommend!

#1 Thai food in Tacoma. But this rating goes beyond the food, it’s also the lovely family that works here. They are extremely kind, and work very hard to have such a beautiful restaurant. Full compliments your way. Thank you Galanga Thai. Especially for those fresh rolls last night when I came over from next door. ♥️

Wow what a nice surprise. We were going to a different restaurant on the same street but it was oddly closed at 7:30 on a Wednesday…so we stumbled upon this place and really glad we did. REALLY tasty Thai food, some of the best dishes of this variety we’ve ever had, red curry for me and drunken noodles for my wife. Also the place is super clean, we both commented on it.
So highly recommend and we will go back when in town, we were down for a couple day trip from Seattle.

Spicy chicken w/fried basil! Lunch portion was perfect! Enough for a snack later.

Hands down the BEST Thai food in or near Tacoma (Indochine has nothing on Galanga!) family owned , always great food, great atmosphere – they have the hoisin sauce for the salad rolls (not the peanut sauce) and they are delicious. ( try them with tofu ) I love that they close down every year for a couple weeks to travel home to Thailand to visit family – so sweet! Great group of people – delicious food

We went here just based on a search, and we we’re thrilled. We got three kinds of curry, pad Thai noodles, satay and fresh rolls. All were so good, perhaps the best I’ve ever had. Parking on a weeknight was easy, service was good. Will be going back next time I come to Tacoma.

First visit – great result. I have a personal “quick test” when it comes to Thai restaurants – ground chicken (instead of sliced/diced) for pan/wok dishes, and got it 🙂 Thai cuisine is very flavorful – and ground chicken gets more flavor (than diced/sliced).
The place isn’t easy to spot – it’s in what I’d describe as an alley in downtown Tacoma. That said, while I was able to quickly park (paid street parking), parking could be an issue (no lot/free parking). I think I just had “good timing” and got lucky.
Good service. Medium sized, and probably only good for small groups – it’s in downtown so I’m assuming the office lunch group size. Moderately priced.
I’ll have to try dinner sometime and see how it goes…

The food is good – but the service is awful. You can’t pick a table; you can’t order ahead and eat there; they rush you out all along your meal yet somehow take forever to actually take your payment; they get upset if you want to specialize your meal; they rarely offer refills on water/soda; the staff is short, rude and unfriendly. I continue to go back because of convenience as it’s close to work however I just found another Thai place with faster and far better service, same food and MUCH lower prices.
