If you’re near Syntagma Square and craving high-quality Japanese cuisine, GAKU SUSHI IZAKAYA Resto Athens is a fantastic choice.
The sushi was exceptionally fresh and beautifully presented — you can immediately tell they take pride in their ingredients. The nigiri was perfectly balanced, the rice seasoned just right, and the sashimi melted in the mouth. We also tried a few hot dishes which were equally impressive.
The atmosphere strikes a great balance between elegant and relaxed, ideal for both business dinners and casual evenings out. Service was attentive, professional, and genuinely friendly without being intrusive. Smiles were flowing constantly.
Location-wise, it’s perfect, just a short walk from Syntagma, making it an easy stop whether you’re shopping, sightseeing, or heading to a meeting.
Highly recommended A+++ Definitely one of the best Japanese spots in central Athens. I’ll be back.

The staff was very kind and welcoming. The food was delicious, especially their signature dishes which are definitely worth trying. My personal favorite was the crispy octopus salad – absolutely outstanding. Overall, a really good sushi restaurant in Athens that I can highly recommend.

We went here for dinner twice in just 5 days in Athens! Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had, even compared to in Japan. My boyfriend is Japanese American and was very happy to find miso eggplant, which is one of his comfort foods. Never expected to find that in Greece!
The yakitori had a great flavor. And they had very nice cocktails. They were out of steak when we went, so we hope they have it next time we visit. If it’s anything like the other food there, it will be great!!

Fantastic Japanese food, great service, amazing cocktails.
Only downside is that it’s quite pricy, I’d suggest not coming here starving, but come with friends, have a few drinks and a few things to eat, really really a great place to eat.

Every time I plan a trip to Athens, the days coming up to my arrival I always dream of everything I’m going to eat at GAKU! The food is incredible and the staff is so attentive ! Seriously this is the only place I eat sushi with no soy sauce! It’s that good! Believe me you want to try this if you are in town!
