If NYC had a love letter to Italian dining, this place would be it. From the moment you step inside, there’s a warm, timeless charm that instantly makes you feel at home like a beloved local spot transported straight from a Roman to the heart of Manhattan.

The menu is nothing short of masterful. Every dish tastes like it was crafted by someone who truly knows and loves Italian food from rich, velvety pastas to tender, perfectly seasoned entrées. The Ravioli Zucca practically melts on your tongue, and the Brasato di Costolette di Manzo (braised short ribs) is pure comfort elevated to art.

But what really sets Gabriels apart isn’t just the food its the experience. The ambiance strikes a beautiful balance between cozy and elegant, ideal for a romantic dinner, a pre-theater meal before Lincoln Center, or a weekend brunch with friends. The staff are consummate professionals warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making your meal memorable. I’ve never felt rushed or overlooked; instead, every detail feels thoughtfully executed.

My wife and I spent Valentine’s Day at Gabriel’s, and it was hands down one of the most special nights we’ve ever had.

Gabriel Jr. and Theo did an unbelievable job making the entire evening feel personal and unforgettable. From the moment we walked in, they treated us like family. The service was flawless, the wine recommendations were spot-on, and the pacing of the meal was perfect — romantic, relaxed, and thoughtful.

The highlight of the night was this beautiful special dessert they made for Valentine’s Day (pictured). It wasn’t just stunning — it was absolutely delicious. You could tell real care and creativity went into it. It felt like something crafted just for the occasion, and honestly, just for us.

Gabriel Jr.’s passion and Theo’s attention to detail truly elevated the entire experience. They didn’t just serve dinner — they created a memory for me and my wife that we’ll always remember.

If you want a place that genuinely makes Valentine’s Day feel magical, this is it. ❤️

Had a wonderful dinner before going to the theatre. Ordered the Caprese appetizer, espresso martini, linguine with clams and tagliatelle with tomato sauce. It was absolutely delicious. I will definitely come back. We also had the tiramisu for dessert which was good, not much espresso in it though. Expensive New York prices but highly recommend.

Everything we tried was outstanding and full of flavor. The burger really stole the show and quickly became a favorite. The team was welcoming and made us feel right at home. We are already planning our next visit.

A place where class meets home. From the moment we walked in, the staff was welcoming with a smile. Gabrielle himself stopped over for entertaining conversation. His sons are equally engaging and fun.

Food was visually appealing with a taste that matched the visual. A special place.

Came here after getting engaged, and honestly was best dining experience I have had.

Met Gabriel himself, and the service was absolutely impeccable. Theo was outstanding and his menu recommendations, the best food I had in 2 weeks while in nyc. Fresh pasta and taste is to die for. Best wait staff I have ever had.

They added some fantastic champagne and dessert and took some lovely photos of us, capped off a perfect day into a perfect night. Forever grateful to Gabriel’s.

We can’t wait to come back soon !! Big love from Gold Coast Australia.

Wow! By far the best meal I have had in NYC. This is not our first time in the city. We have stopped at the “designated” local diners and viral tiktok stops. We walked in to this place while looking for a decent brunch. Most of the other establishments had hour long waits. We walked in here and were taken straight to a table.

Ambience: I don’t know where to start. It is warmly lit, with soft music. It’s nice for a quiet sit down date. The decor is perfect. Not overwhelming, but tasteful.

Service: amazing. Our water was kept topped off. There was always someone near by if we needed, but they did not interrupt our meal. Everyone was very attentive and polite.

Food: best food by far. We came for brunch. We shared the steak and eggs, and the cinnamon pancakes. The pancakes were light and airy and just perfect. The steak was cooked to perfection. Even better than the steakhouses we’ve gone to. Everything was very reasonably priced as well.

We will definitely be coming back!!

Gabriel’s Bar & Restaurant is a true New York classic that still feels alive and exciting. The food is beautifully done, the room is timeless, and the service is warm and confident.

Gabriel Jr. is an outstanding bartender — his craft cocktails are creative, balanced, and genuinely fun. He and Theo work as an incredible duo, completely in sync, keeping the room moving effortlessly. Their knowledge of high-end and rare wines is equally impressive; they make even the most serious bottles feel approachable and perfectly chosen.

The energy, hospitality, and attention to detail are exactly why this place has lasted so long. I love it so much that I can’t wait to have my wedding here.

Wow ! BEST MEAL I HAD IN NYC!!! Such an incredible menu, all northern Italian (my grandparents said it tasted like being home in Italy). Service was 100/10 – it’s a family business with so many waiters having worked there for over 10 years and I loved meeting the owner and his family. Definitely recommend to support a family owned gem in the heart of NYC!
