Gabriele’s Italian Steakhouse fills the void in the Fairfield County dining scene with the quintessential steakhouse. It brings together America’s two favorite cuisines under one location. Located right next to Westport Playhouse former Paul Newman’s Dressing Room Restaurant. The menu, is a contemporary take on classic Italian and steakhouse fare – only better. The steaks are hand selected, prime beef, both wet and dry aged, seasoned with sea salt, crushed peppercorns and prepared with a custom built, high heat broiler which sears each cut to perfection.

From the moment you walk through the doors, it is clear that Gabriele’s of Westport isn’t just a place to dine—it’s an experience. The atmosphere is nothing short of amazing, striking the perfect balance between sophisticated elegance and a welcoming, high-energy vibe.
The Service
The service here is truly top-tier. It is rare to encounter a team that operates with such synchronization and grace. The immaculate staff doesn’t just take orders; they curate an evening. Every interaction feels intentional, professional, and refined.
The Experience
What sets Gabriele’s apart is the unwavering attention to detail. From the flawless table settings to the perfectly timed pacing of the meal, nothing is left to chance. The personalized service makes you feel like the only guest in the room, a testament to a management style that clearly prioritizes excellence above all else.
The Verdict
If you are looking for a venue that understands the nuances of luxury and high-level hospitality, this is it. For those who have high standards and expect them to be met, Gabriele’s doesn’t just meet them—it exceeds them.
There was no attempt to ease the wait — no welcome drinks, no apology, no acknowledgment at all. The experience felt disorganized from the moment we arrived.
The DJ didn’t start until 11:30 PM, and there were no New Year’s Eve hats, favors, or celebratory touches, which was surprising given the event pricing. At $185 per person before tax and gratuity, the food and overall experience did not justify the cost. My steak was cooked to medium but was medium well with a an overly burnt sear.
I come here often for regular dinners and am usually impressed, which makes this even more disappointing. Unfortunately, after this NYE experience, I will not be returning
The décor is elegant, and the illuminated bottle display behind the bar really adds to the upscale feel. We sat in the main dining room and could comfortably hold a conversation.
We started with the grilled polpo and ahi tuna tartare — both fresh and well executed. I ordered the T-bone medium rare, and it was cooked perfectly. The table also enjoyed filet mignon, mezzi rigatoni alla vodka with shrimp, and pappardelle bolognese. Sides of Brussels sprouts with bacon and balsamic-honey glaze and baked spinach au gratin were excellent. Chocolate soufflé for dessert was the perfect ending.
Portions were satisfying without being heavy. Bathrooms were very clean, though the entryway floor was a bit slippery. I’d definitely return and recommend it for a special occasion.
The highlight of the night was the tomahawk steak—perfectly cooked to a beautiful medium-rare with a rich, flavorful crust. Every bite was tender and packed with smoky, beefy goodness. The sides complemented the meal perfectly, and the drinks were expertly crafted, adding to the overall experience.
Everything was absolutely delicious, and I can confidently say this place is a must-visit for any steak lover. Fully recommended!
We had an incredible dinner, and the Wagyu steak special was truly out of this world perfectly cooked, unbelievably flavorful, and easily one of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time. The desserts were just as impressive, rich, indulgent, and the perfect way to end the meal.
What really made the night special, though, was the experience. The staff surprised us by getting together to sing Happy Birthday for my friend, which was such a fun and memorable touch. The drinks were excellent, the service was on point, and every single staff member we interacted with was warm, attentive, and genuinely great.
Amazing food, amazing service, amazing atmosphere. I would 100% come back and highly recommend Gabriel’s to anyone looking for a top-tier steakhouse experience.
