Everything was perfect in this restaurant. Had some amazing loaded nachos and then you had one of the best burger I could say. We ordered 2 flaming goat burgers but one with chicken and other with impossible meat, they were the best I had to say. Mind you they are hot!! Would definitely visit again if I get a change.

I had a grilled cheese and fries. The grilled cheese has lots of cheese options and I chose cheddar. The bread was really good. My mom had some kind of club sandwich (don’t remember – but it’s pictured here – either turkey or chicken,) and she liked it. There was no wait to be seated but I think we were here around 3:30 or 4:00 – so kind of a weird time. The waiters and staff were friendly.
The only thing I’d fault this place on is that there are two buildings and it was unclear to me which one we were supposed to go into. We chose the correct one – I’m not sure what the other one is.

Great place! Our server Jenna was great, friendly, and constantly checking on us. Food amazing. FYI Horseshoe Style burgers are totally shareable. My husband had to take 1/2 of it home. My fish tacos were also very filling. Best meal of our vacation.

A great place for a good meal at a fair price.
We had lunch here with family and really enjoyed it. The menu is mostly sandwiches and pub style food, but they also have good salads, soups, and appetizers. There are a few options for vegetarians, and they do have Impossible burgers available.
Dinner specials are available (after 5 PM) and they have several desserts.
Portions were large (especially the Horseshoe sandwich that was more than I could eat!) and all of our choices from the menu were delicious.
There is a full bar (of course) and a great beer selection including multiple beers on tap.
Service was good, even though the place was very busy.
We will definitely return here sometime and will recommend it to others.

Today’s road trip led me to Effingham, and when I searched for the best bar food in town, Google pointed me straight to Gabby Goat American Pub & Grill. Tucked behind the original bar, the new building is clean, spacious, and full of character—definitely not your average roadside stop.
Service That Hits the Mark
Katelyn was my server and she was fantastic. Even though the lunch rush was winding down, she stayed sharp and attentive. Friendly, fast, and on top of everything—exactly what you hope for when you’re rolling in hungry and curious.
Starting Strong
I kicked things off with one of their signature Old Fashioneds, made with Buffalo Trace. Smooth, balanced, and a great way to ease into the meal. If you’re a bourbon fan, it’s worth the upgrade.
Appetizer Win: Pork Bites
Next up: Pork Bites. These were grilled just right—tender, flavorful, and paired with a house-made BBQ sauce that had a nice tang without overpowering the meat. Honestly, I could’ve made a meal out of these alone.
The Main Event: Effing “Ham” Burger
Then came the Effing “ham” Burger. This thing was stacked—a juicy, well-seasoned patty topped with savory ham and melted cheese, all tucked into a sweet bun that held up beautifully. I added fries because, well, I’m human. They were crispy, golden, and seasoned just right. No regrets.
The Vibe
Gabby Goat has a fun, laid-back atmosphere with pool tables, dartboards, and gaming machines. Plenty of seating options—high tops, low tops, bar stools—and a spacious back area. Parking’s easy too, with a lot out back.
Final thoughts: If you’re passing through Effingham and craving solid bar food with great service and a relaxed vibe, Gabby Goat is a worthy stop.

Our first time at the new building. It’s beautiful. Super clean and nice. The place was pretty busy. It was lunch time. But our drink order was taken within an acceptable amount of time. We quickly had our drinks, placed our order and we’re surprised at how quickly our food arrived. I got the smoked brisket tacos. Wow! They are my new favorite thing. Sweet, spicy and smoky. Absolute perfection. My husband got a wrap and said it was just ok, but I never expect too much from a wrap. The beers were super cold and the onion straws (strings…can’t remember what they call them there) we’re good as was the sauce. We will definitely return. Great lunch!!!
