Had the TJ Dog and the cheeseburger egg rolls, and both were excellent. The TJ dog was loaded, well balanced, and full of flavor without being messy. Every bite delivered. The cheeseburger egg rolls were a standout. Crispy on the outside, packed with flavor on the inside, and they kept their crunch the entire time. They’ve also added new items to the menu, and if these dishes are any indication, they are doing things right. Everything tasted fresh, consistent, and clearly made with care. Comfort food done right. Highly recommend and a great local family restaurant to support!

Funky has been a go to for me and my wife whenever we stop in to El cajon to visit family. The portions are excellent, and the quality is something I wish other restaurants strived for. When you look at their menu and see the burger in all its juicy glory, that’s exactly what you’re gonna get. Not some deflated sad burger.

I’m really disappointed with my order. Both burgers were severely undercooked. My daughter’s burger was bright pink/raw inside, and mine, while not as bad, still had a lot of pink and was clearly not cooked properly.
I do not eat raw beef, and I absolutely would never feed it to my toddler. This is a serious food safety issue, not just a “preference” thing. Serving undercooked meat, especially in a kids’ meal, is unacceptable.
I ended up having to just disassemble the burgers and nuke them because it was late, my daughter and I were hungry which is frustrating because I paid a lot of money. I don’t like having to complain , but this needs to be addressed. Please do better with quality control and making sure food is cooked to safe temperatures before serving it to families.

Today we visited from Houston Texas. We were throughly impressed and absolutely adored the customer service from Vivian. Her whole personality is amazing. She did excellent in taking the very large order that my siblings and parents placed.
They also delivered our food to our table quickly! We all work customer service jobs so we were expecting a little delay since it was a large order but… W O W!!! Customer service and timing was 10/10.
We had the Philly cheese burger, OG burger, steak and shrimp fries and smash burger fries, Mac and cheese and tenders kids meal. All were so full of flavor, hot, fresh, well cooked!!!
The atmosphere inside and out is a very relax chill vibe with the string lights and privacy screens… huge bonus was the music was late 90s and we were LOVING it.

My family and I had an amazing experience at Funky Fries and Burgers! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, and my toddler couldn’t get enough of the tater tots. The owner was incredibly nice and friendly… he even came by our table to say hello and check in. Very genuine interaction with a lot of care in their service. We’ll definitely be back. Places like this truly deserve the support!

Stopped here late at night with a group of 6. We ordered in groups of two and everyone got something different, I ended up with some tater tots that were fantastic and really hit the spot after a long day of visiting around San Diego. It didn’t take very long for the food to come out and the guy working the front was very nice.

Ehhh just alright I ordered the BBQ burger with no grilled onions waffle French fries and an oreo shake my burger had grilled onions and no onion rings so that sucked but whatever the burger was just ok the waffle fries were just ok and the oreo shake was good I was gonna give them 2 stars but the restaurant was clean and the workers were cleaning the whole time so that was a plus there is plenty of parking this place is alright for El Cajon but I would definitely find some where else to grab a burger

Kind of pricy , but the burgers were delicious I ordered the hangover burger my gf got the BBQ bacon w/ Feta fries I could barely finish my combo, she could barely finish her burger . Great service they were also selling a donut burger national donut day ! We plan on coming to try one of there awesome shakes
