The food was delicious, beautifully prepared, and enjoyed by everyone at the table. Each dish felt comforting yet refined, perfect for a family gathering. The complimentary tangyuan for the festival was a thoughtful touch that made the celebration even more special.
There was also a birthday offer, which made the experience feel even more generous and worthwhile. The service was kind and attentive, and the staff made my mother feel truly celebrated.
A lovely place for family occasions!!We’ll definitely be back!!
As an authentic Chinese restaurant in Amsterdam, their Sichuan cuisine is seriously on point. The numbing and spicy flavors are bold and fragrant, but not harsh on the throat at all—it’s the kind of spice that makes you want to keep eating more.
Since there were quite a few of us, we ordered nine dishes, and every single one was perfect with rice. The chili chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, spicy but not overwhelming—such a pleasant surprise. The fish-fragrant eggplant and dry pot green beans were also totally on par with Sichuan restaurants back in China.
A special shout-out has to go to the stone pot fish. I’m usually not a big fan of fish, but this dish was unexpectedly amazing—no fishy taste at all, and the broth was fragrant, numbing, and spicy. I couldn’t help but have a few extra bites.
The restaurant is located near Dam Square, very easy to find. The environment is clean, and the service is friendly. Whether you’re looking for Chinese food in Amsterdam, Amsterdam Chinese cuisine, or just a solid place to check in for Chinese food, Sichuan Restaurant Fulu is absolutely worth trying
This is one of the nicest sechuan restaurants I have been to. The fact that there are a lot of chinese people eating here says enough. It is the real deal.
Very nice complex flavours are nicely balanced and of course the sichuan peppercorn ads to that.
I recommend you eating the dry fried beef tenderloin with a fresh cucumber salad.
We had a nice view overlooking the Rokin street.
I recommend making a reservation since usually it can be quite busy.
Service was good, very friendly staff that made sure we were doing okay.
Looking for a real chinese culinairy experience? This is the place to go.
We will come back!
If you ever wanted to experience the thrill of playing “guess the portion size” while dining out, this is the place! Four people, four orders of rice—simple math, right? Apparently not. We were treated to a mystery combo: one tiny bowl and one slightly less tiny bowl. Who needs equal portions when you can have a fun family-style scramble for carbs?
And the tea situation? Oh, what a delight! We ordered two pots of jasmine tea and received a massive pot, perfect for sharing—except we were given one cup. When we politely asked for more cups, we were met with a firm “no.” Clearly, sharing is caring, but only if you’re sharing germs. Who needs individual cups when you can just pass the one around like a medieval drinking horn?
We were ready to let the rice-and-tea fiasco slide, but the grand finale was the to-go box. After paying, we asked to pack our leftovers and were handed a container that looked like it had survived a war—stained, scratched, and thoroughly unappetizing. Nothing says “thank you for dining with us” like a side of mystery grime with your leftovers.
If you enjoy culinary roulette, communal cup games, and heirloom-quality takeout containers, this is the spot for you. Otherwise, maybe bring your own rice and a spare mug.
If you’re visiting Amsterdam and craving good Chinese food near Dam Square / city center, this is a great choice. We came as a group and shared several dishes — spicy chicken, dry pot dishes, mapo tofu, eggplant, stone-pot fish, and more.
The flavors reminded us of real Chinese home-style cooking. The spicy chicken was crispy and aromatic, and the stone pot fish had a rich broth that we kept going back to.
Service was friendly, portions were generous, and it’s a solid option for travelers looking for the best Chinese restaurant in Amsterdam.
Would come again!
Talking about the vibe: it’s a nice multi-story building with a local-style facade, and the interior is mainly decorated in red tones. It feels just like the New Year scenes in 80s/90s Hong Kong movies—such a warm, retro atmosphere.
As for the location: it’s right next to Dam Square in the city center, and you can get there directly by taking the 52 subway line.
For the food: I think the flavors are really authentic. The vegetarian dishes like Mapo Tofu and Dry-Fried Green Beans are incredibly flavorful, with a unique seasoning that makes them perfect with rice but not greasy at all. The meat dishes—like Dry Pot Shrimp and Kung Pao Chicken—were basically wiped clean as soon as they were passed around the table. A special shoutout: the Dry Pot Chicken and Shrimp have dry-fried chili peppers, green Sichuan peppercorns, and numbing peppercorns, so they’re really fragrant with that classic Sichuan numbing-spicy kick. But since it’s adapted a bit, it’s not overly spicy—totally manageable for most people.
Overall: The portions are huge, the food came out quickly (all dishes were served one after another in about 10 minutes), and the staff were all really friendly. The whole dining experience was fantastic! Highly recommend this Chinese restaurant!
This place happens to be right next to our school, so whenever we don’t know what to eat, we just come here by default. It’s not the type of restaurant people line up for, but it’s consistent, convenient, and the flavours are always reliable. The space works well for groups, and the round tables make sharing easy. Service is friendly and dishes come out quickly. Solid spot — definitely recommending it.
