Food was fantastic and definitely getting your bang for buck. We started with 12 raw oysters, then got steamed platters for mains. We had a great time and will definitely be returning!
The blue cheese chip appetizer was very surprising in flavor. The blue cheese sauce was sweeter than I expected and the blue cheese crumbles were not pugnant / flavor was very smooth and balanced. The tomatoes and other small ingredients were very complimentary to the flavor and texture.
The Cajun seasoning for the Cajun pasta and jambalaya was fantastic (both dishes had different flavors). The sausage was my favorite ingredient.
I can’t say enough how great the service was. They were really flexible with orders and provided well-informed recommendations.
We were staying in Ocean View West and the day completely got away from us. By the time we were ready for dinner, it was close to 8 p.m., and I refuse to walk into a restaurant right before closing. Most of the places near where we were staying were already close to closing, so options were limited.
A quick Google search brought up Fuller’s Raw Bar, which showed they were open until 10 (or “when they close,” as their door says). I skimmed through the reviews and photos, and everything looked fantastic so we went. Fuller’s is in Phoebus, which turned out to be a super cute area for a walk after dinner.
We started with the blue cheese kettle chips, which I was excited for the second I saw them online. They were amazing rich, crispy, and perfectly balanced. My fiancée, who’s usually not a fan of blue cheese, couldn’t stop eating them.
I ordered the 1 lb of shrimp and a snow crab cluster, which came with red potatoes, sausage, and corn on the cob. The shrimp were huge, and the snow crab cluster was massive! Even a woman walking out stopped to comment on it. My fiancée ordered the Mahi Banh Mi and loved every flavorful bite.
They also have a large beer selection for those who drink. Our server was polite, attentive, and kept our drinks full the entire time, which just made the experience that much better. Needless to say, we left completely stuffed and very happy. Fuller’s is now on our must return list.
The real showstopper? Four dozen oysters—fresh, briny, and shucked to perfection. If you’re a fan of raw bars, this spot should be at the top of your list. Great service, laid-back vibe, and seafood that speaks for itself. Can’t wait to come back.
