Very disappointed in the cut down of portion sizes. It used to be the noodles are also in a side container. This picture is what a lunch portion would normally look like. I purchased a dinner meal. So now this is a dinner meal? Cutting back on portions and upping prices? Letting greed become a factor all the while the grill isn’t even available? Ridiculous.
The steak wasn’t seasoned well, nor the rice or noodles, vegetables were not in any sauce and not well cooked, slightly hard.I also got a sushi tray and the avocado in it was old/brown. Upping the pricing on yum yum sauce, sushi trays and the food in general when it’s not high quality, good food is so disappointing! I’ve been coming here for years and once was my favorite restaurant. Beckley doesn’t have many of those so this is heartbreaking.

We were spending the night locally, and some Japanese food sounded good, so we stopped in for dinner. The restaurant was very well decorated but it was a bit dark. It could have benefitted from windows, maybe? There was a really nice bar area with plenty of TVs. Also, a coy pond with fish for sale. There are plenty of hibachi tables. We just wanted to sit at a regular table, and we’re seated quickly. The server took our drink order, and then we ordered hibachi with chicken and steak to share. When the meal came out, it was already split for us and even the split portions were huge. We weren’t able finish them. The veggies were cooked but still crispy. The fried rice was very well flavored. Both the steak and chicken had a brown teriyaki sauce with the meat. The steak flavor was good but just slightly tough. The chicken might have been dry but the sauce really pulled it through. Overall it was a very good meal. Service was excellent. The decor was neat just a little dark for me. I recommend this restaurant.

Omg this was soooo fun. We had a large group at the grill, so we had a little wait for our drinks and appetizers to arrive and for the fun to start but once it did, oh my! The chef entertained us while grilling the food and watch out, because the food will fly through the air and you might get a soke squirt or 2 in your mouth. The food was delicious and great times were had by all.

The waitress pretty much forgot we existed in a mostly empty restaurant. The servers spent most of their time standing in groups talking and watching tv. All the servers had really snarky attitudes when we mentioned we never got part of our meals. Our server blatantly gossiped about us, including gesturing to point us out to her co workers.

The food was terrible. The steak was overcooked, the salmon looked and tasted more like chicken. I think someone lost the lid to the liquid smoke bottle over the entree, and because of that, they forgot all other seasonings.

The only upside is that the sushi was absolutely amazing.

(Edited)An aside as it has been a day…my date and I were up all night with food poisoning and are still ill.

I had a wonderful experience during my visit. My server, Chloe, provided outstanding service, and the food was consistently delicious. I look forward to returning and will certainly request her again.

We had been to the restaurant in Charleston, and someone had mentioned to us that we should try the one in Beckley, West Virginia.
We stopped by about 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon and there were just a few cars in the parking lot.
We went in, and the first thing we noticed was the amazing woodwork carvings of chairs, tables, and other trees.
There was also a pond with goldfish in it, which I didn’t expect.
My first impression was that this is a cool restaurant!
They seated us at the table with the grill across from a full party of people, both adults and kids.
The floor was a mess, litered with food from where the chef had dropped food while preparing their meals.
Our chief was nice, did all the little tricks, played with the fire, and then prepared our food.
The food was above average but not what I had experienced from other Japanese restaurants.
There was no free shrimp to try out, and the scramble egg that is cooked with the rice was left in large clunky pieces that I pulled to the side.
We had the Filet Mignon with rive and noodles without the vegetables, and the quantity of food was huge.
We took 2 Togo boxes home and had some for later that night, which helped offset the cost of the meal.
We both enjoyed the food, the atmosphere was very good with all the carvings, the waitress and chief were very friendly and had worked there many years.
Like I said, we were traveling through, so the stop helped the trip go smoother, we stretched our legs and got out of the car for about an hour.
The experience was fun, the food was okay but we probably would not return if we lived in the area but I’m glad we tried it out.

It had been years since we had solid hibachi. Fujiyama has rekindled our hibachi flame!

Food: 5 stars due to high quality shrimp, scallops, and salmon. My wife loved the chicken and daughter loved the steak. Our 6yo liked the miso soup! Also, the hibachi noodles are seasoned perfectly.

Service: 5 stars due to our hibachi chef being charismatic and fun. We were seated quickly on a saturday night with plenty of chefs available.

Atmosphere: 5 stars due to all of the ambience. Beautifully crafted wooden decorations in the main lobby, followed by Sakura painted on the wall when you walk in. Koi for sale in a pond, and plants for sale as well.

I recommend the apple sake and my lady said she enjoyed her plum wine too. You will not be disappointed in this restaurant!

Located across the street from our hotel, we came here purely from reviews and it was a great choice where choices are limited. Overall, the miso soup tasted like chicken broth and the sushi was meh but the staff was great and service was quick. We all ordered filet mignon/shrimp hibachi & my youngest said his fried rice was “so delicious” so total win.

Ima be so real when I’m writing this I never leave bad reviews but the rice is not seasoned good. Hibachi chicken is bland and the house soup is essentially like 90 cent ramen chicken flavor packet. I would never be back. I recommend for anyone reading this to go to kimono in Princeton. It’s fire.
