First, do not be deterred by the location. Coming through cattle country you usually don’t stop for sushi rolls and ramen, but we were so pleasantly surprised.
We stopped in as a family of four with one of them being our Japanese foreign exchange student. She gave high praise of the food and ordered tempura and sushi. Our ten year old was very pleased with his ramen and ordered crab rangoon to share. My husband had a poke bowl and I had the rainbow roll sushi, both with miso soup.
Our bellies are full and happy. The meal ended with some ice cream mochi. We have been to many Japanese restaurants since we started hosting students and this is the best one we’ve been to in Kansas. Lucky for us that Abilene is closer to home than Wichita or Kansas City.

Worth the drive for an elevated meal and comfortable environment. We’ll be back! Highly recommend! (Plan for $25-$30 per person if you are doing drinks, apps, main course, and dessert.)

We had high hopes? We frequent Asian restaurants everywhere we go. The sushi was presented creativily, and it was fine. The shrimp tempura appetizer was mediocre. The gyoza was small. Both were over priced. The curry was presented oddly, and the pad thai was strangely sour.
The service was good until we had to wait and wait…and wait for someone to appear and ask for our check and to go boxes. We were disappointed but would go back if someone with us was adamant to go but would definitely try different things and not waste money on the appetizers. The chopsticks were cute and you can tell a lot of effort went into the renovations of the restaurant.

We have been pleasantly surprised with the various Asian options available in their large menu. There is truly something for everyone here including fresh made sushi, Chinese stirfries, Thai curries, hibachi, and more. We personally love the pork belly bao buns on the appetizer menu. We’ve tried several sushi rolls, all excellent with beautiful display. Soups are hot and tasty. And we’ve tried several special that have been great.

This is a must try place! I have been amazed every time we stop! The sushi and sashimi are ice cold and fresh! They display everything neatly and explain to you what all is on the love boats or any dish you choose! The dining experience is delightful and staff are very kind and welcoming! Their menu has a lot of options! Definitely something to try if you are in the area!

Absolutely wonderful experience.
The atmosphere when I walk in feels a little country-ish. This is out in the middle of the Midwest after all. I walk in and am immediately seated. The server taps a light on the table and soft lighting comes on the center piece. A ceramic jar holds soy sauce next to it. Classy. I ask for a drink recommendation and point to the mixed drinks. The server mentions that if I like whiskey the Suntori Paper Plane is a good choice. I go with it and it is fantastic.

I consider safe bets on the menu like General Tso’s chicken or a California roll. I look up and make eye contact with the server who is at the bar and he arrives immediately. I again ask for recommendations. He points to specials on the board- beef bulgogi and a cowboy roll are at the top. I choose to experiment and go with his recommendations again.

The cowboy roll comes out first. A sushi type roll with shrimp, cream cheese and crab delight wrapped then topped with seared beef and scallions. The board arrives with a pink and white flower (small plastic peony?) in a vase open at the bottom with dry ice so smoke pours out at the bottom. Beautiful presentation. I pull the chopsticks (presenter on a ceramic soy sauce dish with silver holding ends (much nicer than the cheap pull apart sticks most restaurants provide) and start in. Great blend and taste.

The bulgogi arrives shortly after I start. Fried rice (I chose) and kimchi sit next to the beef. Again great flavors.

As I finish up, I see a man in a wheel chair start to come in from a side door. One of the servers runs over to assist him. He goes up to the bar and orders a drink. The bar tender leans in and listens attentively. Great and attentive service to everyone, this place is truly a gem in the middle of Kansas.

So good! The four of us ordered several apps and entrees because 1. We were starving and 2. We wanted to try all We could. Everything was good. From the fried tofu app to the Spicy Miso Ramen, it was all delicious. Tonkatsu Ramen, Yellow Curry, Hibachi Salmon, Chicken Fried Rice, Tom Kha Soup, etc. We loved it all and will be back!

We stopped in for dinner and ordered appetizers, salads, and main dishes. The food came out extremely hot and almost immediately, which made us wonder if things were being microwaved rather than cooked fresh. The flavor was fine, but it definitely felt more like delivery-quality food than a dine-in experience.

Service started off rushed with a quick “Are you ready?” the moment we sat down, and then once we asked for more time it took quite a while before someone came back. The atmosphere was also a bit off — the lighting is very bright (as shown in the photos we uploaded), almost like being in a hospital or showroom rather than a restaurant, which made it hard to relax.

Pricing was on the higher side for what we received. It’s priced like fine Asian dining, but the food and ambiance didn’t quite match that expectation.

We wouldn’t go back by choice, but to be fair, Abilene doesn’t have many dining options — so it may work in a pinch if you’re craving Asian food and not too particular about ambience or freshness.

The VIP California roll was very good. The fried cheese curds could’ve been fried a little more. Those were good too. I love curry, so we decided to try the red curry this time with chicken. It is a little on the sweeter side than I expected. Overall All the dishes were good.
