This is a hidden gem! Possibly the most unique restaurant I have been to in years. There is no menu the chef simply asks you “land, air, or sea” and will make you pretty much anything you want. You can sit and enjoy the people watching and sit at the piano!

Fuad’s is an outstanding restaurant. But its not a cookie cutter place, its a unique, small, intimate, romantic place. There are no menus, and its decidedly not fast food. The wait staff and the chef will visit with you and make whatever you want that their kitchen can handle or has in stock (which is most everything in the Euro-American imagination). If you are a first time guest, I recommend that you be patient, friendly, and allow them to help you with recommendations. I heartily recommend the Caesar salad, which is blended tableside (traditional Caesar salad, don’t think of overly cheesy chain restaurant versions). Their wine list is good without being overly pretentious. For entrees, talk with the waiter and the chef and they will help you pick something (for this trip, I asked for fettucine alfredo with grilled chicken, and it was flawless). For dessert, I had the bananas Foster flambee, which was amazing for the presentation, and absolutely delicious. There was a live musician performing on the piano who was classy. All in all, an excellent and enjoyable evening.

Amazing low key spot. Perfect for a date. Piano guy does an excellent job. The staff is very professional. Couldn’t ask for a better bartender.

Small and candle-lit with an older crowd. Has a piano that people sit at and sing along to, no menu (ask for anything) and a comprehensive wine selection.

Everything about this restaurant is exceptional. This spot reminds me of a lot of places I’ve been to in Europe.

Fuad’s is my new favorite place for dinner in Houston. There is no menu and you won’t need one. Think of what you’d like to eat, say it, get it. The food quality was top-notch.

It is safe to say that I have never regretted a meal this much, and have never been met with such a poor dining experience in my life. I get the no menu thing, strange and perhaps obselete but nonetheless probably tradition. Ordering through the host felt like entering a negotiation blindfolded. When asked if he was the owner, the host sarcastically replied, “no, no, I’m just a poor Mexican,” much to the dismay of my nearly entirely Mexican guests. Oh well, maybe racism is just part of the old-school dining experience offered here? We ignored it and continued ordering; I used the Google menu to browse their offerings, but beware that the prices on the online menu are completely different from what they will actually charge you. A guest in my party ordered what was proudly declared as the specialty dish: a peppered filet mignon with cognac sauce cooked medium rare, and, surprise, it was totally raw throughout. Sure, the outside was seared, but inside it wasn’t even blue rare at the very most. It was impossible to even get a clean cut through the disgusting, squishy, almost gelatinous insides of this filet, and chewing through this monstrosity was like chewing the densest, slickest gum you have ever had. Thankfully, this dish was comped and replaced with a simple chicken pesto pasta. I am unsure if this was personal, but the replacement dish was entirely inconsistent in quality compared to another chicken pesto pasta ordered earlier at my table. To be sure, everyone in my party sampled a bit from each, and it was clear the replacement dish’s pasta was, just like the steak, severely undercooked. This doughy, unforgiving pasta mixed with a clearly much more greasy and runny sauce made for a totally unsatisfying bite. For over $50 per person, I felt like I got robbed exiting the establishment, and I’m sure my guest, who was only able to donate his to-go chicken pesto pasta to the trash bin, was satisfied as well. I wish my party went with our initial instincts of just leaving after our interaction with the strange host.

If I can give this place less than one star I would because the owner was plain rude and racist. I do not appreciate the way management discriminates against certain customers. Upon walking in, the maitre D gave us a look basically sizing us up.
