Dony was our chef and he gave us a great show with his own special tricks. This is the best show we have experienced in a while! They clearly put effort into the entertainment portion. The kids at nearby tables were all in awe, the chefs put on good shows here. 🙂
We both ordered filet and I ordered the scallop combo.
They offered soup or salad, we both did the soup which was more of a soy base than a clear soup, still very good and flavorful- but different than the typical clear soup!
We ordered rare filet and they were cooked to perfection! Scallops were tender and seared well, as were the shrimp. The rice was one of our favorites, very well seasoned with some mixed veg inside that added a nice crunch.
The veggies were cooked perfectly and the sauce on them was really good. As for the side sauces, we both favored the Yum Yum sauce, though the ginger sauce was accurate- it has a nice kick!
We enjoyed our dinner with plenty of green tea (lots of hot water refills!) but want to try the hot sake next time as we noticed sake enhances the flavors of the meal.
It was easier to talk there than at other hibachi restaurants! It was a Friday night and they had full tables, but it wasn’t overly crowded and there was room for everyone.
Clean restrooms and restaurant, easy parking, and good location. Our waitress was friendly and provided good service as well.
We’ll surely be back again!
Two in our party ordered sushi rolls, and they said they were great, so I think that the sushi was the star of the party. Three of us ordered steamed rice, which the server forgot until half way through the meal, when the chef reminded her. The “steamed rice” was NOT freshly cooked. I am sure that it was the same day old rice used for the fried rice. It was luke warm, stale, and dry/gummy. It was very hard to choke down. If a Japanese restaurant can’t serve a decent bowl of freshly steamed white rice, there is an issue… I ate some out of the little bowl it was served in because my plate was swimming in butter and oil. The salad was ok, a simple small bowl of greens and a few shredded carrots, with a tasty strawberry/ginger dressing. Not bad for a side salad. Needless to say, I left hungry after only eating some of the old rice and the small salad.
I had a nice glass of a new world sauvignon blanc, a very generous pour, that was $10. It was probably an $8 bottle, but that’s ok. It was a solid wine, not flabby or stale, and they weren’t shy with the pour, which was probably 6 ounces. One of those in our party had the same wine, and ordered a second glass, which the server never brought until she was reminded about 20 minutes later, when we were nearly done with our meal. Our server was very nice, but she forgot rice and mid meal drink orders, and never came around to refill water, which I desperately needed after choking down some of that white rice. Maybe it was her first day on the job. Who knows. She was very nice, though.
Where I sat, the table was sticky and the floor was gross. My shoes were sticking to the floor, and there was food on it. Maybe a child was sitting there before I did. I don’t know, but it was rather unnerving.
In the end, I think the teppanyaki food was ok to decent from what I observed. The old “steamed rice” was nasty, and the side salad was fine. The fried rice looked pretty good (I did not have any because there was egg in it). The sushi appeared to be very good, however, and was very reasonably priced, which is why I am giving this review 3 stars instead of 2. The prices are very reasonable for this type of place (my veggie/tofu was only $16, and most single protein dishes were in the $20-30 range), and the quantities were fine. There are certainly better Japanese teppanyaki restaurants like this in the area. Maybe this is a great example of “you get what you pay for”. Will I go back? Not likely.
Absolutely stellar food. The scallops are literally the best I’ve had in years. Steak was cooked to perfection and they take food allergies very seriously so that was great to see.
Highly recommend, will definitely be back.
