Reviews
We decided to try 3 Adobada tacos and 1 Al Pastor taco, and honestly they were a solid 8/10. The meats were good, and I loved the guac salsa they put on the tacos—it added great flavor.
For the kids:
• Asada quesadilla with fries – my daughter liked it
• Chicken taco with beans and rice for our 1-year-old – the chicken was okay, not the greatest, but the beans and rice were fire
Drinks were also a highlight:
• Strawberry Lime – perfect flavor, very refreshing
• Banana drink – not our favorite
• Strawberry cream drink – really good
They also have a salsa bar, and all the salsas were good, which is always a plus.
Overall, a great experience with good food, friendly service, and solid drinks. Definitely worth checking out.
Coffee and coffee guy 10/10 very kind young man.
All the glass is dirty full of days of handprints. They don’t clean everyday. Or at all.
FLIES ON THE FOOD. 10 flies were in the food station one I saw was pregnant.
Guy took out trash behind the food. That glass door behind the food station was unbelievably DIRTY. And that patio full of trash boxes and bags and a guy went to toss trash back there in the pile instead of walking it to the trash cans. Left the door cracked open and that’s how flies were getting in.
Four five women look like mom with daughters all standing around instead of helping the process or for health sake cleaning.
The meat was room temp. So im scared I only ate it to not offend my date.
The potato taco I didn’t get ti eat at all it was COLD like if it was una fridge or away from heat too long.
For your health be careful. The dirty glass says it all and the trash with flies on food.
Not tj style because tj is cleaner.
When you walk into Frida’s, the vibe is definitely modern Mexican—almost gives off a Saizon-lite feel, though not nearly as upscale. The ambiance sets some expectations, but unfortunately, the food and service didn’t meet them.
I went in on a Tuesday for their Taco Tuesday deal ($1.99 per taco). At the counter, I was helped by a young girl who mentioned she was part of the family. I asked her what made their tacos “Tijuana style,” and she simply replied, “That’s how they make them in Tijuana.” When I pressed for more detail, she couldn’t explain it at all….not exactly the most helpful interaction.
Ordering was a bit confusing. After paying, I had to walk over to a separate counter and tell the taco guy what I wanted. I noticed all the meats were already pre-cooked and sitting in warmers….not being cooked fresh to order, which was kind of a letdown. The guy preparing the tacos was pretty stingy with the cilantro and onions too. And the tacos themselves? Small.
I tried the asada, adobada, and birria. The asada had a bit of a smoky flavor, which was the only highlight. The adobada was tough, and the birria was pretty bland. The yellow corn tortillas had a nice texture, but they’re clearly store-bought. At full price, these tacos definitely wouldn’t be worth it. Don’t even get me started on the limes that were browning…clear sign they were old.
I was also surprised to find the restrooms already dirty by 9:45 in the morning….especially with barely any customers around. That’s not a great sign for how things are maintained.
I did try the banana agua fresca, which was actually pleasant…not overly sweet, and refreshing. But that alone isn’t enough to bring me back.
Bottom line: Frida’s feels more like style over substance. There’s not much authenticity here, and for what you get, it’s just not worth the hype. Save your money and head across the street to Taqueria Yareli’s. This unfortunately feels like another forgettable Mexican restaurant in Clovis destined to close its doors.
