Now, don’t get me wrong. I really enjoy this restaurant. For a long time now, I have enjoyed the Steak Salad. A true Pittsburgh staple. I’ve had it many times. last Fall I had it to rave reviews from my fellow diners at the table. A month later, I ordered again and it was ‘bastardized’ by some free thinking chef who assumed that he can embellish on an already Classic entree.
It had black beans and cranberries and wood chips and all kinds of ‘naturelle’ kinds of stuff that just ruined it. On my trips back, I no longer order that salad, which is sad.
To whoever is responsible for this atrocity…..ain’t cha never heard the phrase…..’If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!’ ?

The menu is compact and the food is excellent. I would contend it is the conversation for best in the city. Kitchen moves at an excellent rate and produces a perfect product every single time.

However the whole place suffers from continuous pretentious gimmicks. The seats at the bar aren’t stools. They’re who only knows what you’re sitting on. I would really like to drink from a glass, not a jar. If I had a plate instead of eating a sandwich from a baking pan or having fries in a little fry basket, I would be so excited. I didn’t need the check delivered wedged between two clay butter dishes. Those little black books every else uses is entirely acceptable.

I haven’t a bad word to say about the staff. Our server was knowledgeable and I saw them all hustling getting it done right.

The decor is very good. Extremely well maintained, consistent, and they care about how it looks. If you sit near the kitchen, you get to hear “corner” “in” “out” roughly every 10 seconds during a busy service. Some others decide to use a mirror but here we are. I wanted to move after about 3 minutes of this serenade.

Don’t let these minor things deter you. The food is worth it.

The best meatloaf (8.5/10) in Pittsburgh by far. So much so that it was sad when our table of 4 was only able to get the last 3 meatloaves.
Sells out super fast, portion is a bit less than filling but taste is amazing.

Settled on a sausage pappardelle (7.5/10).
French onion soup was delicious, 9/10.
Deviled eggs 8/10.
Baked bread with their special orange tasting butter 8/10.

What a beautiful place to eat, my first time in Pittsburgh and we decided to roll on by this place to get some dinner and I was beyond satisfied. The service was fantastic, the employees were all amazing with a great sense of humor and the food…. Goodness that food was amazing! I would highly recommend the Frick Park Tavern to anyone looking for a higher end restaurant.

Nice food and a nice atmosphere. There’s a dining room and a bar, and it was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday night. It’s not a big place, I imagine it would have a wait on the weekends so book ahead. The “tonight’s toast” is a good appetizer if you want something light, though pricey for what it is.

Frick Park Tavern is a little gem of a restaurant in Pittsburgh. The inside decor is comforting and welcoming, the ambience is great.

I have been about three times and everything I have ordered has been delicious. My only complaint is some of the dishes can feel a little too “butter rich” and lack an acidic component to balance out the richness of oil/butter they use.

Also, their website to make reservations is not mobile friendly.

Their cocktails are amazing, I highly recommend the Henry Frick!

If you’re looking for a low key restaurant in Pittsburgh with good food and good ambience, you should definitely try it!

Frick Park Tavern is a excellent addition to Regent Square. The food is delicious, the prices are reasonable, the selection has something for everyone and the service is amazing. As a craft beer drinker, the selection, while not vast, included local breweries and styles to cover all your tastes for a meal.

Absolutely recommend. It’s casual but also a bit classy. The bar is beautiful and the drinks are amazing. We also ordered food in the dining room and it was also amazing. Buffalo cauliflower was GREAT and the wedge salad was fantastic. It was a special so it may not be there when you go. Chicken parm was delicious and the pesto pasta was so good. Staff were friendly and attentive.

I love the concept of a neighborhood restaurant that I can bring friends or family to on any day. I think Ease was a great one at that and didn’t need renovation, but here we are with FPT. So far it’s been great. Below are my thoughts on the menu items.

Restaurants with huge menu are an automatic fail IMO. FPT does it right in that regard.

Pan-Roasted Salmon: cooked and seasoned to perfection.

Crispy Calamari: The squid pieces are small, so you taste more of the batter than squid. A little bland overall, and not really crispy. I do like the occasional fried pickle they mix in there that added some flavor.

FPT Salad: too much vinaigrette. I was a huge fan of their salad back when FPT was Ease. It was served in a big stainless steel bowl, well mixed with perfect amount of dressing. But the FPT salad was a letdown. Way too sour. I couldn’t even finish it. Served on a plate so it’s hard to toss the salad without accidentally dropping bits on the table.

FPT Burger: Burger’s top-notch. Even more impressive was the fries. Among the best fries I have ever had – thick and crunchy. Rosemary sea salt was a great touch.

Buttermilk Fried Chicken Salad: Great pairing. Chicken was tender and juicy; good salad. Portion was small for an entrée but big for an appetizer, so I’d consider adding another protein option if for entrée.

Consistently good! Get the meat loaf. As for drinks they need more local spirits at the bar. PA has some good choices but they only have the big national brands.
