It’s my husband’s birthday so we decided to visit Nevada City to spend a night there. This restaurant has the good vibe. They were super friendly and very kind to take care of us including a paw boy. The food menu is so good. We had the good cheese pastry to share and each one had the main courses. They serve the food very fast and the quality is very good. Everyone came to check very often and nice. Just purely nice to be there. We definitely will go there again if visit Nevada city.

Live music is cool. Stay in the bar and skip the dining room. Our party of 8 tried multiple offerings. Simply not worth it. Prime rib pictured was ordered medium rare, came out well and Grey. Veggies looked like they had been cooked 30 minutes before and were just awful. Yorkshire pudding unedible. Yes the food is that bad. Steak frites was probably best of group but nothing special. This tasted like really bad tourist food. They are banking on folks eating once with zero accountability. French onion soup was so over peppered it was inedible.

We had an amazing date night with me and my wife. Our waitress Jamie was just excellent she was on top of our orders, very sociable, pleasant to be around, and made our night! The food was excellent I highly recommend the scallops we had prime rib dinner, fondue and chocolate mouse to finish it all off. We have had a rough experience here in the past and decided to try it again and it exceeded our expectations. Jamie deserves a raise if the manager reads this and thank you for stepping up the menu and service!!

Sat at the bar to listen to the live music and order dinner and drinks. Food was good/pricey. Hostess & Food runners were lovely and welcoming. The bartender made the visit difficult. He forgot to make my partners drink, and we were the only couple sitting with him at the bar. He was not warm, but seemed distracted and unwelcoming. Maybe an off night, but it threw our experience off. Will try somewhere else next visit.

Been eating here for 46 years. Was disappointed in how much it had changed since our last visit. All our favorites are gone from the menu right down to the salad dressing. The waitress kept telling us everything was better, but that wasn’t our experience. The onion bread was always a favorite, it was just ok. We ordered a salad but the entree came out yet no salad. The waitress admitted she put the salad and entree in at the same time so we canceled the salad. No problem except it still showed up on the bill. We had the cheese fondue since the hot oil Friar Tucks is known for is no longer in the menu. It was decent but I wouldn’t say better. The drinks and dessert were great. The waitress was nice but she apologized for different things at least a dozen times. Sad we have lost our favorite place. We may give it another try down the road but tonight, on our anniversary, we were disappointed .

We were with a big dinner party, this evening. The restaurant inside was lovely. I was very disappointed with my 45 dollar rib eye. It was burnt, not medium rare and rather horrible. My wine that was to come with dinner came about 15 minutes after my meal arrived. I really wanted wine with my dinner, since I had forgone the wine earlier because I was driving. My wine came, my meal was cold and burnt. I normally would have said something, but it was a celebration and I didn’t want to ruin it for everyone else. I’m afraid I won’t be back.

I have been looking forward to trying this restraunt out, and I was really disappointed. I went during happy hour on a Monday, so it wasn’t very busy. The guy behind the bar took my order, and that was the last time he helped me! After about 30 minutes, I had to ask another person where my food was. Then she disappeared for another 15 minutes, but did bring my food. It seemed like she was the only one there showing interest in the customers. As I was sitting at the bar, I looked down, and the wood facing on the bar was filthy too. I won’t be going back.

Just moved to town, and had dinner for the first time at Friar Tuck’s. Had an incredible meal, a great waitress, enjoyed both cocktails and the brand new mocktails! We were greeted by Ken, who gave a warm welcome to town. Awesome place, and looking forward to spending more time here!

We wanted to go somewhere nice to celebrate our wedding anniversary last night so we chose Friar Tuck’s. We often camp for the weekend in Nevada City from Reno so it’s nice to get to know the area. We had great service and were seated promptly. I ordered my favorite, prime rib, and my husband had the ribeye. My meat was full of fat and about half the thickness of usual prime rib, and not very tasty. My husband had a lot of fat in his meat also and wasn’t impressed with it. The best part was the mashed potatoes but that was about it. The roll wasn’t even very good. It was a disappointing meal for over $120 and I was still hungry when finished. The restaurant itself was cool and nice ambience, with live music and attentive servers. But food was just not good.
