This little Greek restaurant is fast and the food and service are excellent. I stopped in and had a stuffed Gyro with Greek fries that were loaded with feta!! I left with a full belly!! I feel like they do mostly take out, but the space was clean and comfortable.

We stopped into Freskos in Hamden and were blown away! We ordered the classic gyros, garlic feta fries, and spicy feta dip, and every bite was absolutely delicious. The gyros were perfectly seasoned and tender, the garlic feta fries were addicting, and the spicy feta dip was the perfect mix of creamy and flavorful. We also grabbed a Greek salad to go, and it was fresh, crisp, and just as tasty.

The service was fantastic—friendly, welcoming, and attentive from start to finish. We even got to use a coupon we found on Facebook, which made an already great meal even better. Freskos is the kind of place you look forward to coming back to, and we can’t wait for our next visit. Highly recommend if you’re craving fresh, flavorful Greek food!

My first time here! The place was spotless. Ordered chicken souvlaki- it was ready quickly. So flavorful!! Ingredients were fresh. Chicken was hot and seasoned so well. I found my new lunch spot!

This establishment came highly recommended, so I had to explore. I ordered the chicken souvlaki on pita (I added feta),a cup of their avgolemono soup, and a piece of baklava. The food was delicious and well seasoned. The chicken was extremely moist and flavorful on it’s own. The baklava, however, lacked that crunch from a freshly made batch. The portion was a decent size. The place is very clean (even the bathroom was well kept) with outside dining as an option.
Where my 4 star stems from is from the lack of customer service from this establishment. Don’t expect to get greeted with a smile or even a hello from the gentlemen that were there (I’m only speaking of the 2 gentlemen during my visit). This establishment is considered to be one of America’s Best and it should exude that all around. The food is definitely the star of this show!

Went here last week for the first time despite working in the area for years. When I say it was disappointing I mean truly disappointing. First the prices were extremely high for what you get. the gyro was so dry it tasted like it was left over & had been reheated. That’s the only way I can explain it-microwaved meat- rubbery and chewy. And the presentation and assembly was so sloppy it was embarrassing to eat, it was a total mess. I believe I got a combo so it came with fries. Now I wasn’t expecting a huge portion but I got 9 French fries in total. Nine.xNo exaggeration. The girl I worked with and I counted because it was so ridiculous- we actually shared a good laugh over this because we would venture to say Seagulls in their off season get more French fries for lunch. And finally, and my favorite part of the experience, the server at the counter seemed inconvenienced that I was there. When I asked about another item on the menu and potentially ordering larger quantities for working lunches she said “I don’t know”. I had asked because I originally thought of using them for some professional working lunches I have coming up just for the mere convenience of where they’re located in comparison to my office but I would be embarrassed serving this to clients and clearly they don’t want the business if they can’t be bothered to answer pretty basic questions

Decided to try this restaurant as we were in the mood for some good Greek food and it had good reviews. Personally, we ended up thinking it was ok. Not good, not bad. I had the gyro. The description said it was shaved off of the spit. It may have been originally, but it was definitely cooked on a griddle as the meat was dark brown on each side and pretty dry. It wasn’t freshly shaven as I was hoping. My wife got the chicken souvlaki. She said the chicken was good, but when the wrap was opened it was very soggy. We ordered some Greek fries which were soggy as well and the feta wasn’t great quality. More of a rubbery texture than nice and crumbly. Then lastly was the spicy feta dip. This was decent, but was watery on the top when we first opened it so I’m guessing it had been sitting in that container for a bit and separated.

Now we ordered this to go so I can give a little leeway with some of the sogginess, but we only live about 10 minutes from the restaurant.

So overall, this is just an ok experience for me. If things were more fresh I’m sure it would be much better. Until then I’ll be on the search for a better option.

I wanted fast food but not from a “fast food restaurant” I skipped the big 3 and as I am a meat eater and love fries I tried local places but the cost was too high for the quality of the food. I think I found my lunch spot. The Gyros sandwich was very good and it had enough meat for this 200 pound man. The fries were good enough but you can substitute a soup or a salad if you want or need healthier options. I bought the gyros sandwich combo and it was much less than a combo meal from the big 3. Parking is plentiful BUT you have to really look to find the entry point but after that it was easy to park and walk to the restaurant. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and the inside is very beautiful and gave me a feeling of visiting Greece if only for a few minutes. Also on health front the combo does not mean just Pepsi/Coke they have carbonated choices that have no sugar! I really believe if you wanted to you could assemble a truly healthy choice for lunch at this restaurant.

Freskos has been on my bucket list for so long and I finally made it there! I went on $6 gyro night so of course I had to try the gyro. Can we just talk about how juicy the meat was and how flavorful it tasted? Because hello happy tastebuds!

I paired it with the lemon potatoes, which tasted great on the side. The avgolemono was perfectly lemony as well, but the star was the baklava. There were so many layers to this baklava it looked like a slice of spaghetti. I have a new fave Greek spot and I’m ready to head back again stat.

I’ve been to Fresko’s twice now, and both times I’ve been impressed! The gyro is absolutely delicious, and I love their pita and tzatziki. The colossal gyro with French fries was an option I hadn’t seen at other places, so my boyfriend tried it and loved it! The baklava was a great dessert, and the banana truffle cookies were a bit artificial tasting but still good. Fresko’s is definitely my go-to for Greek food now!
