We tried Jamaican cuisine with high hopes and weren’t disappointed. The service was great. They were all so friendly. The food was really good and fresh. Its made to order, so be prepared to wait a while. They just opened, so they need to be given some grace, like the lack of decor, music, seating and wait times, but this place is a definite recommend and we’ll be back!

I found this restaurant today and decided to give it a try. I ordered the oxtail, curry goat, jerk chicken, and rice & peas all served with cabbage and fried plantain. Let me be honest I was a little nervous. We’ve had Jamaican restaurants open in Middletown before, and sadly the food was horrible. So I didn’t come in with high expectations. But I must say this place is top-tier. Everything was cooked perfectly. The oxtail was tender, the curry goat was flavorful, the jerk chicken was on point, and the rice and peas tasted just like it should. Even my son said he would give them 10.5 stars if he could. As someone who was born and raised in Jamaica and grew up in a restaurant, I know what authentic Jamaican food is supposed to taste like and this is definitely it. My husband is Italian and he cleaned his plate and said, “Babe, this is good.” He didn’t even wait to take it from the bag We’ve been together 16 years, so when he tells you Jamaican food is good, trust me he means it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+ STARS
We will definitely be back! ️

We ordered from this place about 5 days after they opened so they were still getting certain things in order, and it was the day after a major holiday, so there was a bit of a wait for the food but it was totally worth it! (So far, I believe the place is not set up for dine in, it’s takeout only)
We ordered the oxtails, jerk chicken and red snapper fish and it was all amazing. The oxtails fell off the bone, the jerk chicken had incredible flavor and the fish was super fresh and well seasoned. The sides were good as well: Mac and cheese was amazing, rice and peas and yams were pretty good. I also had the beef patty and it was delicious. The crusty was buttery and flaky and the meat was well done. This will definitely be a place we will frequently visit.. Well done Fresh & Tasty!!!

Finally True Authentic Jamaican food. Jerk chicken & Curry Goat were tender and season to perfection. A True home cook meal experience.
Bonus points for the sides, especially
Steam, cabbage and Mac and cheese. ( one of the best) don’t miss the beef patties.
Definitely will be coming back again & again. Wait time is 10+ mins.. since everything is cooked fresh & daily.
(I have verified with the owner. All the meat is halal)

The food is on point. Taste is authentic and full of flavor. Owners are originally from New York. I want to try everything on the menu so that means I’ll be back often. Just understand they may run out of certain dishes so either go with your backup main/side choice or call ahead to check.
FYI- Food is takeout as it’s not setup for dine-in. They give you healthy servings so you can move right to your couch or bed after you eat.

If you’re looking for authentic flavor, Fresh and Tasty Jamaican Cuisine is a must-visit. The food is incredible, but the Oxtails are the true star—perfectly tender, falling off the bone, and smothered in a rich, deeply savory gravy.
The Curry Chicken was equally impressive, with a bold, well-balanced spice profile and meat that was cooked to perfection. Every bite tasted fresh and homemade. The staff was very warm and hospitable. If you want a real taste of the islands, this is the spot!

First thing – takeout spot only. Not a problem as their food is worth coming to pickup and driving home with.
I got their oxtail with dirty rice, and jerk chicken with white rice. Both came with fried plantains.
Oxtail – super tender and flavorful. The sauce it’s braised in is out of this world flavorful. I found some fresh thyme twigs in mine but that’s great. It means they’re using fresh herbs in addition to dried herbs. I would highly recommend.
Dirty rice – my wife is a beans and rice snob. She said it was the best version she’s ever had. I don’t disagree either.
Jerk chicken – the smokey taste from the pimento wood really comes through. Chicken was well cooked and the flavor was spectacular. It’s spicy but not overly so. But I have a higher slice tolerance than most of my friends so take my subjective view on its spice level with a grain of salt.
Plantains – well cooked and seasoned. Slightly sweet with great texture.
White rice – it was white rice. Jokes aside it pairs well with the juices from the jerk chicken.
Can’t wait to try this place again. Will definitely get the oxtail again and maybe try the curry goat next time.

Not sure whether they threw my order together because they were about to close. Overcooked chicken. Rice with no peas and lost of it. Oxtail with little gravy and not well seasoned. Called to try to get them to rectify the situation and didn’t make an effort. Got my money back through Uber Eats.

I delivered the equipment to this place before they opened. I told the owner I would definitely be back to check it out. I have been back twice and the experience was great. The staff was helpful and friendly. The food was fresh and piping hot. The only thing missing was a little reggae music while you wait. Come see for yourself the home cooked experience I had.

The breakfast was good, reminded me of my mom’s porridge, which is a plus. I also had Jamaica’s national dish Ackee and saltfish, which was spot on. I see some other reviews on here and I can tell you I don’t think they telling the truth. I am Jamaican born and I normally cook my own food like most of us but to know this type of restaurant exist in Middletown and the food is quality and good, trust me this is authentic Jamaican food.
