Decided to try this place out with my dad after not being able to pick anything to eat after a day of shopping, and what a beautiful and comfortable place to sit down and enjoy a meal. The service was amazing, the food was so far beyond delicious and arrived at the table so fast it was like they knew our orders before we even got inside, and the atmosphere was like sitting around the dining table with your family. The art on the walls was beautiful, and we were told that the paintings hanging up on the walls were made by the daughter of the woman who was serving us. And did I mention how delicious the food was? Fried catfish filet so crispy and perfectly cooked, red beans with rice that may now be my all time favorite side dish and cornbread so soft and buttery I might have fallen in love with it. Oh, and the sweet tea. Just…amazing. Not to mention what this place does, the community they strive to continue to build stronger and the love they put back out into the world. I am thankful I had the opportunity to experience such a wonderful place.

Tried this place while on a visit to Spokane and we are SO glad we did. The food is phenomenal, the place is so clean and nice, and the workers were the sweetest people. The greens and red beans and rice were amazing, ribs that melt in your mouth, and chefs kiss to the cornbread. So dang good. Also the neighborhood was very cool. Loved every part of our experience and can’t wait to come back.

My daughters took me out to lunch for my birthday. The food is so good. Everything we ordered was delicious. Tracy the sweet lady who served us is friendly and got everything right. The art on the walls is spectacular. The place itself is inviting and warm. The chef Mr. Brown knows his stuff. Worth going to check out. See what they do with the community. A must stop to enjoy good food and meet some great people. Enjoy the pics

Brought my kid drinks why camped out for there money holiday give away event. No outhouses for over 500 people camping overnight in a line. Disabled and some had toddlers. So people were going to bathroom in random places and yards. No security presence so there were fights and drugs. Cops didn’t show up till morning and only to block roads off. Not family friendly event or safe. Super scary lots of violence. City council frowned at me when I spoke at the podium how dangerous this was for the toddlers I saw camped out and asked for security presence next year. If I have a event they demand outhouses and security. Yet this is a good deed event so policies and ordinances don’t apply I guess. Obviously safety isn’t a priority for the kids and people not getting high why camped out for this event from city council or the owner of this place. Guess when someone gets hurt real bad one of these years then someone will think about maybe. Not family friendly event

We love going to Fresh Soul — the food is so good! I just wish the portions were a little bigger because I could honestly eat so much more . My family and I love walking there, and everything this place does for the community makes it even more special. Getting ice cream there in the summer is always a treat, and the owner is always so kind, always saying hi to my kids when we walk by.

I have always wanted to try this place and finally stopped for lunch. Mom had the rib sandwich with fries the fries were nicely seasoned and she enjoyed the sandwich. I had the 3 rib meal and they were quite good fall off the bone they use a sweet and slightly spicy BBQ sauce. I would certainly come back again. The restaurant was very neat and clean and the service was very good. On top of that when you eat here you are supporting a good cause.

This is the place to eat after a long day at work. Bathrooms are squeeky clean! Chicken pulled pork, ribs, beans, potato salad, and everything else I had was on point. Enjoyed Mr. Brown’s testimony on why he opened. Powerful!

Loving this place! Probably the best greens in Spokane. Chicken done perfectly, ribs fall of the bone. Best of all it’s priced well and I love Fresh Soul’s mission to help the East Side Community. Get you some!!

I was so excited to try this place. I am a huge fan of chicken N more and sole food places in Spokane are very far and in between. First the atmosphere is great. Extremely friendly staff and cute uniforms and a very colorful restaurant with outside dinning available. The place looks amazing. Now for the food. I’ll be honest I didn’t really like it. I mean I’m not going back this restaurant. The bbq Sauce is very sweet and the baked beans taste more like a sweet chili then baked beans. The ribs fall of the bone but the seasoning just ruined it for me. The fried green tomatoes had no taste. The chicken also had zero flavor. The
Potato salad was my favorite thing out of the whole meal. You may enjoy the food but for me a Spokane native I don’t have a lot to compare it to as far as soul food. I do wish these guys success and hope they stay strong. Spokane needs a cultured place like this. It’s just not my cup of tea.

Mr. Black is an amazingly giving person, I commend him on the ability to look past all the people taking advantage of his thanksgiving assistance program he and his family/employees carried out. I myself could not do as he did just to watch all that Charity go to a dope dealer’s pocket or just another fix for a junkie. I’m sure there were family’s there that indeed got blessed by Mr. Black but the aftermath I witnessed was a few city blocks of people trying to touch there forehead to there toes, lately this has seemed to be such a popular event it may become an Olympic sport.. On the flip side I think it helped many folks that were in need, an really I shouldn’t be so judgemental, but it just seemed outlandish the amount of folks that were not with families or were openly smoking substances for everyone to witness, to each there own but a little respect for Mr.Black’s business and the folks that lived in the homes on those streets, would have been extremely courteous which seemed to be on no one’s agenda that evening/morning
