I spent some time as a kid growing up in France, and have long wanted good patisseries around Asheville. I found French Broad Pastry yesterday.
This morning’s breakfast was a pain au chocolat and coffee, and just like that I am back to grabbing the morning bread from our local Boulangerie at 5 a.m., and a pain au chocolat for myself (my mom would give me a few extra centimes for this) as a kid in the hills of Alsace, France.
These are perfect in every way and a real slice of French Pâtisserie. Thank you Dune, for the rememberance.

I had an almond twist at the Apple Festival in Waynesville last month. It was absolutely delicious!!! Can’t wait to go to Asheville and I will certainly be buying more than one!

The best croissants you will ever have. Seriously, follow them on social media so you know what they’ll have for sale when and where, and make sure you get more than one – you’ll regret it if you don’t!

We sought them out at Black Mountain Tailgate Market and we were not disappointed. We got the vanilla peach tart, Apple Crossiant, Blueberry Danish AND Kouign Amman. They were each devine in their own right. Literally the best pastries EVER!!!

If you’re gluten-free, you will not be disappointed by their “Financier” cakes! The peach caramel one sounded like an odd combination to me at first, yet it was my favorite. They are small, moist French-style almond cakes. Absolutely delicious.

I bought some pastries from French Broad Pantry at the North Asheville Tailgate market this morning and am absolutely blown away by how incredible they are. I think these might be the best pastries I have ever had, anywhere (including large cities and small towns in France). The flavor, texture, size and structure of the croissants is literally perfect. Amazing.
