Freighters Eatery & Taproom is a culinary destination on the St. Clair River in Port Huron. We are deeply rooted in our “Commit to the Mitt” philosophy. This mantra is the driving force behind our passion for community involvement, as well as our scratch-made menus. The Freighters Culinary Team works with a variety of local vendors and suppliers to incorporate the freshest ingredients into our seasonal menus. The creativity of our recipes is complemented by our extensive beverage program, featuring a list of local libations, including – artisan cocktails, Michigan craft beers & wines.

The only thing good about my experience at my visit to the Freighter was the food itself compliment the chef..amazing. now to bad we were never greeted we sat fir good 6 minutes or more while managers saw that just walked by before we had find a manager to get served and no apology from manager. The server was pushy and slammed the coffee cup on table spilled the coffee and wasn’t offered another one. The server just ignored us never helped at all but was mysteriously there for the check. First time here Won’t be back.

We had a great dinner there! It’s comfortable atmosphere, good water view, and family-friendly. Some big party also was having same time. It’s located ground floor of the hotel and is accessed easily. We will be there again soon!

I’m just in town for the month on business and I’ve been trying to eat at new places. Freighters is GORGEOUS and the view is LOVELY. The food was eh. Service, eh. The waitress was great actually, but they’re so poorly staffed and they sat me out of her area, so the poor thing was running a marathon all night. Definitely a management issue, not a waitress issue. (I got the steak and potatoes/veggies and the scoop of mashed potatoes were dry and CRUMBLY). Cheesecake, amazing.

The Fish & Chips are fantastic! So much food I couldn’t finish it. Hubby had a burger cooked to perfection. They sat us at the perfect table outside overlooking the water. Service was on top of it!

This place is located inside the Double Tree by Hilton. It is a very nice-looking restaurant with friendly staff. It has a view of the river and bridge. I found it very relaxing and a comfortable environment. I did find the food not meeting the same level as the atmosphere, however. I felt the food was average, which the restaurant looks as it should be above average. Now I’m not saying the food was bad either, it was decent just did not meet my expectations when looking at my surroundings. I would most definitely give this place another try when I’m on that side of the state again as I did enjoy its location very much.

Had a lovely experience this weekend! We were at the hotel for a culinary competition so I had a bit of downtime while the kids prepped. I sat the bar and had an amazing Brussels Sprouts Salad. So flavorful! The next day I had a Freighters burger. It was cooked just right and the fries were so crispy and yummy!

Lovely location. We went during Saturday dinner peak, and that impacted service. They were very busy. Food came out slow. They compensated us with a soup and salad without us saying anything about the wait. That tells me they are concerned about customer’s satisfaction. When we got the food it was warm, as if it had been sitting under lights. It’s fine they were slammed, I understand. The food was good. Tasty and portion sizes were good. They are pricey. Be aware this isn’t casual dining. You can spend $15 to $30 a plate and the meal doesn’t usually come with soup or salad..bread. Those are separate. Bathroom was clean but a couple of stalls were missing toilet paper and the trash needed to be emptied. Again, it was busy and everyone has staffing issues.
