Freeport Oyster Bar is a restaurant, raw bar and local cocktail hot spot that has a direct tie to sea and land farms. While we’re known for our fresh oysters sourced from Casco Bay and beyond, our menu extends far beyond the raw bar to include creative sandwiches, soups, salads, tacos, weekly specials, and innovative dishes featuring locally-sourced ingredients. Our partnerships with numerous local farms and sea farms ensure the freshest ingredients, while our craft cocktails perfectly complement the full dining experience. Freeport Oyster Bar is a complete restaurant destination that brings together the best of Maine’s maritime heritage.

I came here in August for a drag show. It was all ages so I brought my 17 year old client who identifies as being bisexual. It was a really great experience. They kept it clean and appropriate for any age. The Oyster bar is beautiful. The show was held in the little outside area. They were serving water, alcoholic beverages and seafood. All I had was a water. So I can’t comment on much. Other than how well the show was, the professionalism, the great staff and the amazing atmosphere. I would absolutely go to any event they hosted again. Unfortunately I do not like sea food or I would have already eaten dinner here. It is such a cool, classy but laid back little spot.

Impossible to overstate how cute this place is. From the moment you walk in, you know you’re in for something special. The oysters, the star of the show were flawless, you would not believe how fresh they are — enough to satisfy even the pickiest oyster connoisseur.
The service however, was lethargic at best. Despite it not being busy (and we visited during off season) and more than 5 people on staff, it took forever for someone to take our order and return with a check. I can’t imagine how much slower they would be in the summer.

Our second visit. The clam chowder was delicious. Creamy with plenty of fresh clams and bite size potatoes that do not overwhelm the clams. Split an open face crab melt. Toasted bread with plenty of crab meat. Topped with tomato slices and gooey cheese. Be forewarned the crab mix has some spicy heat to it.

Freeport Oyster Bar is incredible! It is a cozy restaurant with terrific service and amazing oysters! We sat at the bar and shared a dozen oysters and the scallop crudo. Everything was fresh and delicious. The menu was extensive so you can even bring your non-oyster eating friends. I look forward to returning the next time I am in Maine. I highly recommend checking out the Freeport Oyster Bar!

Have others have said, a limited menu but the food is good.
Prices seem aligned to other places serving seafood. We all thought the oysters and chowder were good. Shares the parking lot with LL Bean stores.

The Freeport Oyster Bar is located at 43 Main Street in downtown Freeport, Maine. It used to be a carriage barn & it’s now a cozy, little spot to enjoy fresh, local cuisine. This restaurant is known as a raw seafood bar, but it’s so much more! They also serve delicious “chowdah” & soups, “lobstah” rolls & salads. They have some interesting signature cocktails, as well as wine & beer selections.
To start off, I enjoyed the best clam chowder I’ve ever eaten in Maine! It’s served with sourdough bread. Then I had some very fresh raw oysters, harvested locally & served with their own house mignonette sauce & lemon. The fish dip was delicious!
The Freeport Oyster Bar has seasonal, outdoor seating. Plan accordingly because they don’t accept reservations.
They’re closed on Wednesdays & serve brunch on Sundays.
I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Everything was absolutely delicious. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable, the crisp glass of white wine as well as the limeade were refreshing. The oysters were incredible, the clam chowder was creamy, filled with clams & potatoes and the homemade sourdough bread was the perfect addition. We will definitely be back.

Best Chowder I’ve ever tasted! Chunky seafood meat! Fresh Oysters and Veggies were so good! Overall experience and atmosphere made you feel at home. Service was excellent and plenty of seating available. If you’re in Maine make sure to stop by, enjoy the fresh food, drinks, relax and chat. I wish they were closer to my home.

Stopped in a couple weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised by the upbeat bartender rite off the batt. 3 different oyster options, which we tried them all and they were spectacular!! Also the Scallop Crudo was also absolutely amazing!! Fresh fresh fresh !! Also had some chowder and house pickled veggies which were fun. Cocktails are on point and proper.

Had a shellfish poker: clam chowder, mussel toast, scallop crudo and oysters. Everything was creative, well balanced, flavorful and very fresh. They had outside seating available, but they were kind to let us come in with our old small dog. They have a good kids menu available. The service was fast and warm at all times, even when they got busy.
