We have a little vacation spot in Mountain Home Arkansas we like to go to. This was our second trip to Fred’s in 2 years. Highly disappointed the second time, doubt we will be back.. We ordered the Raw oysters. They were not fresh. Looks like they had prepped them and put a piece of plastic over them days prior. I thought the color was off but maybe they will be all right. Regretted it instantly They we’re rancid. They took the oysters off the bill and replaced it with a salad that they did charge me for. I would think that maybe you throw me a replacement salad for free for eating a rancid oyster… Glad I didn’t get sick. Stop pre prepping your shellfish guys you’re going to kill somebody.

The service isn’t as good as it used to be. Their hushpuppies were the bomb but now they use jiffy mix not good at all. You not offer the onions, pickles, and the other stuff. The fish isn’t the same thing like it used to be. Use to you were seated and now your not. I am guessing that they have cut out the little man. I really think they they should bring that person back. Ask the waitress for a glass of water didn’t get it til my meal was almost over with. Its a nice place but really needs some work on the staff and food wise.

Waiter was very good. Food was delicious . We had the 3 piece catfish ,french fries and baked potato . All delivered hot to our table. Menu offered quite a selection of food to choose from and drink menu had wine, domestic and imported beer and mixed drinks.

Our experience here was amazing, the food was excellent, and our server/bartender had great communication The view was beautiful, and the restaurant was clean. We sat in the bar due to the dining room being full and a little noisy.

Stopped for dinner on 12/29/25 @ 4 pm. No one acknowledged that we entered even though there were only 2 tables with people. Tables were poorly wiped down. We ordered the 3 pc granny plate and a fin and feathers. It took forever to get our food and all the fish was still raw. Another table had raw fish also. We only received 2 filets on our 3 pc platter so they replaced the raw fish and refunded us for the missing filet. NO DISCOUNT FOR THE RAW FISH OR POOR SERVICE. DONT GO!!

The service was good. Our server is nice. However, the catfish has way too much breading, way too overcooked. Hush puppies are tasteless. And the tomato relish doesn’t seem fresh at all. Music is so loud and obnoxious. Too pricey as well. The view is probably what you’re paying for here.

Very small portions for price, I had 3 piece granny catfish and it was full fillets cut in half, potato wedges I got only 4. Clam strip dinner was very skimpy on clam strips. Cost for 2 supposed to be dinners, was $38 . Over priced and poor portion. Want be going back. Not the Fred’s when I moved here, 30 years ago and yes I know prices have increased, but the portions have decreased dramatically. We need Reel Um Inn back.

Our group of 4 ate at Fred’sFish House yesterday for lunch, we sat outside in the screened in porch area. The View was nice but the whole experience was kind of soured by many different things. The chairs were very narrow and not at all comfortable to sit in, the food was very subpar, and the service was okay but not quite attentive. Two of our party ordered shrimp & fish platter and both agreed that the seafood and hushpuppies were over breaded, overcooked, and pretty flavorless in general. One of our party ordered the coconut shrimp but only when the food was brought out where they told that there was no coconut sauce and they were brought cocktail sauce instead. The dishware is kind of small, meaning the plates are small-medium sized so they pile the food on top of it and the drinking glasses were smaller which means you definitely need more drink refills than usual but if your server isn’t very attentive than you’re left with an empty glass for awhile. Overall I dont recommend.

We started with fried green tomatoes. Awesome, careful they’re hot. My friend had catfish and shrimp. I just had shrimp with cole slaw. This was the best shrimp I’ve ever eaten. Better even than my own home cooked. See Sierra, very attentive and helpful.

Great catfish! Nice THICK, tender, and fresh-tasting fillets perfectly cooked. Shrimp and scallops were so good that I didn’t have room for the stuffed crab! Tartar and cocktail sauces didn’t taste like they came from a jar. Nice view and great service! Coming back for sure next time I’m in the area.
