Fred’s is located in an old strip center. Not the nicest area. Their big competitor in the area Big Tony’s is across the street. Inside is what you think a Philly place would like. Very basic with a lot of hockey and Philadelphia stuff. No frills here. Your order at the cashier and then sit down and they will call your name or sometimes bring it out to you. They have a variety of cheesesteak to choose from as well as salads, burgers, and sandwiches. I have only tried the cheesesteak. On this trip I got the mushroom cheesesteak which is steak, sautéed onions, mushrooms, and cheese on a roll they bring in from Philly. I got the 10 inch. They have a smaller size as well. I skipped the fries this time. They are good though. Steak was tender and cheese and mushrooms blended in nicely. They do offer some sauce options. One is the original house sauce and the other is a hot version. I don’t usually do a sauce on my cheesesteak but the house sauce is really good. The hot version is hotter, but tastes more like a traditional hot sauce. As mentioned nothing fancy about this place.
It’s about the food and for me it’s a good as a Philly steak you are going to get in the area.

This place is excellent! I’ve eaten at many of the Fred’s locations (most are non existent now) but of all the locations available this one is the best. I drive over an hour to eat here and the food and staff are amazing.

I absolutely love it here! I was just there last Sat talking to the owner Scott..we laughed because he always teased me about getting half a sandwich when he knew that I really wanted the 10 inch philly cheese steak. Then I end up always getting the 10 inch as he recommended. I will miss you Scott and your witty sense of humor. Rest in Heaven….. I will miss you.

Food: taste? Phenomenal. Health wise? Run! This place is not for the faint of heart, it might as well be Allen’s rendition of the heart attack grill, albeit they don’t drench things in grease, and rather seem to drain most of it off. My foods never been super greasy, which is very nice.
Place could honestly use a glow up, but it serves it’s purpose. Foods great, no complaints. Would recommend coming once every month or so for health reasons, but otherwise? Great food! Wish I could come here every week!

I’m obsessed with this place!! The food is always delicious and is the most Philly authentic place I’ve tasted!! It’s always good quality and the people there are super nice! They always serve delicious food beside the bit of a long wait but it’s definitely worth the wait as it’s always steaming hot and delicious! Especially the house sauce. It is really one of kind!!

Visited freds for lunch since i was craving some philly cheesesteak. I went for the classic cheesesteak, must say I was impressed with the quality of the food. It was tasty. Service was quick and cost was nominal.
Being from around Philly, i have had plenty of cheesesteaks to know the taste, it was definitely nostalgic to have it here.
Also i love to support local businesses.
I recommend everyone to definitely try it once.

Very quiet place. Awesome cheese steaks. The mushroom cheesesteak is my favorite. The hoagie bun was fresh. Added some ranch dressing and it was heaven. The staff is friendly. I will definitely visit Fred’s weekly. Good price too. The craft sodas were great. The red soda is my favorite.
