Amazing atmosphere! Totally like walking into the old west with a wood burning grill in the middle.
They have live music and even karaoke some nights.
We had the 10oz steak ($30) and a cheeseburger ($18).
Both were solid 3-star.
We love that they fry everything in beef tallow.
Come to Fred’s for the atmosphere, music and even a little two-step.
It’s great for a large group. There is a large outdoor seating area, in addition to the main restaurant.

At least once a month for the past 6 years I take 10+ people on a desert rides from Caballo Loco Ranch to enjoy lunch with my guests. What I have experienced and others in my group sat watching was the service I was getting compared to others in my group. Even when I was first to order I always was served my beverages and food last. This happens everytime. It’s now a regular thing with this one server. Then just last week I brought another group through, not only was I served last (the norm) but I wasn’t properly charged for the special on pizza and beer. Wasn’t worth my time to address this issue. So after a lot of thought a review was best, with intentions never to Tip her again. Not sure why she ALWAYS singles me out but all others in my group are fully aware of her actions and has know become a standing joke with her when it comes to me being served. Freds is a nice place just wish for equal and consistent service like she does with my other guests.

Everything was just ok. It is a fun place to visit if you have never been there. I don’t eat beef so it was probably not the best restaurant for me. But, I am glad that I went.

I’m going to take my time with this one because something good needs to be fully appreciated. If you ever thought hospitality and good heartedness were gone, you need to visit Fred’s Arena Bar & Steakhouse. I called earlier in the week to make a reservation for the upcoming Saturday for my wife and I’s anniversary. The gal who answered was more than kind and accommodating and even took a moment to give genuine congratulations. Getting there was a fun experience, especially coming from the valley. You take the small but well-maintained Ajo highway to get there from the I-10 via I-19, with the final stretch along a grated dirt road. There was plenty of parking and the grounds were well manicured and decorated. After using the clean facilities, we made our way inside to check in. I told the hostess that we had reservations for 7 pm, but we were early. She knew exactly who we were and led us to our table well ahead of our scheduled time. Where it started to get really special was at our table, the staff had put a ‘reserved’ sign with “Happy Anniversary” written on it. The hostess was legitimately warm about us being there. Moments later, another gal came over with a candle and explained how they got it for us to make our dinner extra romantic. Stop and ask yourself when the last time you were treated so well at a restaurant without having to pay for the additional services but done out of the kindness of the staff’s hearts. We ordered an appetizer of chips and salsa (the chips were tasty, and hot and the salsa was awesome and fresh), followed up with a 10-ounce New York strip and the 1-pound Porterhouse. Both steaks were mesquite grilled as we asked for and needed no sauces (although we did use some because that’s how we roll). The sides – we had the wedge salad and baked potatoes – were generously-sized portions and added the perfect accompaniment to the dinner. With ended our feast with the brownie a la mode. Chef’s kiss, delicious.
They also have several planned nights like karaoke and live bands. We had Rainy Daze as live entertainment and they brought boots to the dance floor!
Overall, I would definitely recommend Fred’s to anyone looking for a fun hidden gem of a steakhouse in the Tucson area. I know we will be back with family and friends.

Crappy, overpriced food. Horrible live music. Very loud and could not hear people at our table. Sorry. I hate to write bad reviews, but this place was truly bad. The stage coach in the dining area was interesting, but not worth the drive from Tucson.

Stopped in on the way back to Tucson after seeing it on Maps and the reviews. It’s a hole in the wall, but was a great experience! Steak was grilled to order and everything tasted great. Locals keep mostly to themselves and service was friendly enough. Got to watch the game on a couple flat screensand bar is fully stocked. Definitely recommend stopping by!

I was served the “fool’s cut porterhouse.” Gristle doesn’t add flavor people. In the middle of the desert, wife wondered if it was a true-to-life Dusk to Dawn.
Too far away to go anywhere else if you’re hungry.
Place was basically empty.

The food was delicious. We were greeted by the staff immediately after walking into the establishment. Prices on the menu were awesome compared to the serving size for it. I really enjoyed being able to visit the stables and interacting with the horses and Longhorns. The location is literally in the middle of nowhere but that’s the beauty of it.
