Was excited to try this well-reviewed spot. Had a morning meeting, and agreed to pick up breakfast burritos for everyone.
Even though in some places, it says they open at 8:00a, ordering through their preferred app (FromTheRestaurant”) says you can order at 6:00a.
I ordered for a pickup. Said it would be ready by 8:00a. I showed up a little after 8:00a. Lights off. Doors locked. No one at the pickup window.
Not ideal, but not the end of the world. Called to get a refund. They said “no problem, let me get you to the person who can help”. They did that four times, then hung up on me.
Heard the food is good. Will never know, and I still haven’t been refunded.
I love all 3 of the locations in the area and I happily drive all the way from Pennsylvania to come for Fredibertos! The staff is super friendly!
Let’s start with their huevos rancheros, which are nothing short of phenomenal. The eggs are cooked to perfection—over medium with just the right amount of runny yolk to mingle with the vibrant, slightly smoky ranchero sauce. The sauce itself is a standout, with a balanced kick of heat and a rich tomato base that tastes like it’s been simmered for hours. It’s served over warm, handcrafted corn tortillas with a side of refried beans and rice that are so flavorful, they could be a meal on their own. Every bite feels like a hug from a California taqueria. I’ve had huevos rancheros at countless places, but Fredibertos’ version is in a league of its own.
Now, the potato taquitos—oh, these are my weakness. Crispy, golden tortillas are tightly rolled around a filling of perfectly seasoned, fluffy mashed potatoes that are somehow both creamy and substantial. They’re fried just right, never greasy, and served with a generous dollop of guacamole, and a sprinkle of fresh pico de gallo. The contrast of textures—crunchy exterior, soft potato interior—is pure magic. I always order at least three, and I’m not ashamed to admit I’ve polished off an entire plate in one sitting. They’re made with such care, you can tell the kitchen is pouring love into every roll.
What makes Fredibertos truly special is the authenticity. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill Ohio Mexican food with heavy cheese and bland flavors. This is California-style Mexican cuisine—fresh, bold, and unapologetic. Their homemade hot sauce, brought to the table in charming little bottles, is a game-changer. It’s got a fiery kick with a hint of tanginess that elevates everything from tacos to breakfast burritos. I’ve been thinking of sneaking a bottle into my bag (don’t worry, I am joking!).
The service is another reason I keep coming back. Miguel and Anna, who I’ve gotten to know from my frequent visits, are the heart and soul of Fredibertos. They greet me like family, always with a smile and a quick chat about the day. Their warmth makes every meal feel like I’m dining at a friend’s house. The atmosphere in both locations is cozy and inviting, perfect for a quick bite or a leisurely family dinner.
My addiction to Fredibertos is real. I’m there so often—probably 12-15 times this month—that I’m surprised they haven’t named a table after me. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or a late-night taco run, I’m always satisfied. The menu has something for everyone, including vegetarian options.
If you’re in Austintown or Niles and craving authentic Mexican food, Fredibertos is a must-visit. It’s not just a restaurant; it’s a love letter to Californiax0 Mexican cuisine, crafted with fresh ingredients and served with genuine hospitality. Miguel, Anna, and the whole team have created something special, and I’m already counting down the hours until my next visit. Five stars, hands down—now excuse me while I go order some more potato taquitos!
We ordered Ohio burrito with a pineapple water and carne asada fries no sour cream and a side of rice and cheese sauce
Ohio burrito good but dry. I would add the cheese sauce somthing else to it
Pineapple water DELICIOUS it’s like a pineapple-ade
Carne asada fries they did not skimp on the meat! I removed the sour cream I should have added the cheese sauce to that.
Cheesy rice very delicious
