I’ve been visiting this restaurant almost monthly, but unfortunately I’ve noticed a decline in the quality of the meat dishes over my last two visits.

On my previous visit, I ordered the beef Bourguignon and found the meat quite tough and dry. This time, I chose the lamb chops, which were overcooked, and about half of the portion consisted of fat or bone. Disappointing for what should have been a highlight dish.

Fortunately, the sole was prepared perfectly, crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside.

I’m hoping the mussels will return to the menu soon.

We stopped by Frederic Bistro in Maidstone for lunch and had a really lovely meal. The beef bourguignon was rich, tender and full of flavour, and the chicken was great too. We shared a raspberry tart for dessert, which just melted in the mouth.

The service was friendly and relaxed, and although the atmosphere was fairly casual, the open kitchen at the back gave it a nice, unique touch. We hadn’t booked but managed to get a table just by turning up — the place was quite busy, which says a lot!

For two mains, one dessert and a drink each, the bill came to about £60 before tip, and we added 10%. Great food, good value, and a really pleasant lunch overall. We’ll definitely go back.

We called in advance as were attending the Hazzlitt theatre and were offered a discounted 2 course meal. Myself and my partner wanted to make sure it was wheelchair accessible, which it very much was and they made sure to book a table that would be appropriate.

The food came out very quickly and was delicious. The servers were all very kind, though it seemed they did not communicate as we were served by multiple people doing the same things at times.

Wonderful atmosphere and would be keen to return.

The best French restaurant I have been in England. Their casual atmosphere with friendly staff made you feel welcome and relaxed. Their pastries are super nice too.

Discovered Frederic’s whilst visiting the area.
My number one spot for morning coffee.
Great, friendly service and gorgeous pastry’s but try not to indulge too much. Lovely building and atmosphere.

Our server Alex was lovely. Attentitive and patient with all of us. Popular spot, would recommend booking a table if you wish to go during peak time. Huge wine selection, all out food was tasty with good portions. The coffee was good and the dessert offerings were gorgeous. Would come again. Definitely not the cheapest but did feel it was good value for the higher price tag.

My son and I was in Maidstone for the day and was looking for somewhere to have lunch. We’re not from Maidstone, so wasn’t sure where to eat. We happened to be passing by and stopped outside and I said to my son that it looks nice inside, but I wonder if the food is nice as well? A member of staff was passing by, getting ready to start work, who said it’s actually quite good. I’m so glad I decided to trust him, as me and my son had an excellent steak baguette for lunch. Service wae excellent, staff super friendly and the food arrive quicker than expected. Having told wy wife how nice it was, I now need to find an excuse to travel to Maidstone so we can go again as a family. Can’t wait to try the delicious look pastries next time!

We booked for 25 people to celebrate my husband’s 70th birthday. We were easily accommodated and the staff were friendly, relaxed and professional. The food came out hot and was first class. Our party had travelled from all areas of Kent, Southampton and South Wales so we’re really happy it was such a good standard. We will definitely visit when next in Kent and would highly recommend this bistro.

One of the best restaurants in Maidstone – delicious, authentic French food that never disappoints, with an amazing selection of patisseries! The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the service is impeccable. Always a buzzing atmosphere, with a great wine list. A lovely, cosy bistro that we love to visit often!

Staff – friendly and accommodating. Took us as walk ins, and sat us away from the crowd as we had a sleeping baby with us.

Food – served quickly and perfectly at lunch time. A french omelette and chips, amazing. Only personal improvement – could have had more blue cheese melted into it! Ha.

Also, the pastries are heavenly. Well done and thank you.
