Ordered a pizza, franks fries and chicken tenders between two of us. Pizzas definitely come out crispier and more charred than a lot of places (and I hate burnt pizza) but this didn’t taste burnt and I even ate all my crusts. The garlic mayo was excellent. The pizza was good, not the best I’ve had but not bad either. The fries were amazing, and a huge portion, we couldn’t finish them. The chicken tenders were absolutely swimming in buffalo sauce, and I wasn’t a big fan of them but my partner ate them all. They would have been better with less sauce or the sauce on the side to dip as they were pretty difficult to eat.
Overall, a nice wee pizza joint and I would eat here again.
I’d heard a lot of hype about Frank’s Pizza in Finnieston, so was keen to give it a proper try. I’ve actually swung by a few times before, but the waiting times were always a bit mad. Tonight, though, I only had to wait a modest 40 minutes.
So… was it worth it? Honestly? Probably not.
The pizzas smelled great, looked the part too. But the base was on the dry side, and by the time I was about 75% through, I was struggling to finish the slices. Never a great sign.
The fries were a bit disappointing too being a tad on the soggy side and a bit heavy-handed with the seasoning.
To be fair, I did have to travel about 10 minutes to get home to eat it, but that really shouldn’t be enough to take the life out of a pizza or turn the fries soggy.
The only other thing that left a bit of a sour taste was the service. Google said they close at 8pm – I arrived just after 7 and asked for a takeaway. The two staff looked at each other like I’d just asked them to stay overnight. One of them I’m sure even asked if they could start closing the shutters while I was ordering. They took the order, but it was clear they’d rather I hadn’t bothered.
Would I go back?
Probably not to the Finnieston one. But I’ll give the East End branch a shot – maybe things are different over there.
Totally underwhelming, the girl serving couldn’t be less interested if she tried.
The pizzas were burnt, simple as that really, if they had been taken out the oven a few minutes earlier, then they would have been so much better.
Average at best. 2.5/5
I won’t bother returning as there are plenty of other venues more worthy of my cash.
