At Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, our story began in 1925 with a commitment to family tradition, originality, and quality. Over the past 100 years, we’ve grown from our roots in New Haven to 17 locations, sharing our iconic New Haven-style apizzas (ah-beetz) with guests far and wide. Our grandfather, Frank Pepe, crafted pizzas using simple, time-honored recipes that have fed generations. Known for our signature white clam pizza and crispy, chewy, charred crust, we’re proud to be one of the nation’s oldest and most respected pizzerias, offering a truly authentic experience at every location.
Casual local pizzeria chain serving a menu of coal-fired pies, beer & wine since 1925.

Frank Pepe’s is hands-down, without question, unequivocally, the best pizza I have ever had in my life. Eating here has been a blessing… and a curse. I am from Indiana, and happened upon Frank Pepe’s while traveling for work in the northeast. Since tasting this pizza, there is no longer any pizza place that compares here in the Midwest. Even some of my favorite pizza places that I have loved here no longer even sound good. Pizza in the Midwest has pretty much been ruined for me. You better believe that next time I’m up north, I’ll be back.

We wanted to try something truly apprentice to new haven. We were told this was it. They got as seated quickly and the staff was very friendly. We ended up trying the clam pizza as it was a local specialty. It was fine, but not something I’d drive a long distance for. Very interesting oblong shaped pizza that was coal cooked. It did have a great thin crunchy texture that was good. If come back so I could try some of the other flavors, but the price is also a bit higher. S small pizza runs about $15. A medium will run mid, $25 and a large can put you in the $30+ range.

As a New Yorker, I am intrigued by Connecticut apizza. We went to Frank Pepe’s in Danbury tonight and had an incredible experience. My chef husband enjoyed the show of the busy coal oven. I love a good tomato sauce and this hit the spot. But the service and hospitality really made our night special. Our server, Lauren, could not be more delightful. When I told her I’d never been there, she explained the whole menu. She made sure our food was perfect and everything we wanted was delivered quickly. We told her we needed a pizza to go for my father in law who was in the hospital. They included an extra pizza for the hard working nurses. The staff was thrilled! We were treated like family at Frank Pepe’s and can’t wait to go back

Came here with a friend from Chicago and another friend from London, and they both enjoyed the pizza. A friend from Chicago said it’s so much better than their deep dish, the crust, the sauce, and the char. We tried one of their limited-time “afterburner” pizzas; it’s their famous doppio pepperoni with Mike’s hot honey, and wow!! This was delicious! It’s somewhat similar to Sally’s Calabrian stinger, but not as spicy and not as good. But this is a good option while they have it, so I don’t need to drive 45 minutes to Sally’s. Service was great, and we came in for late lunch, and it was not busy.

First time trying out New Haven style pizza and it took a while for me to get used to it, eventually I liked it a lot. We tried their seasonal pizza which was wonderful. We got a small burrata salad and it was perfectly portioned. Really like it when restaurants have multiple size choices for salads. The summer seasonal sangria was good (maybe a tad bit sweeter), and I really liked their Chianti offering.
We rounded off our meal with their Caramel mascarpone cheesecake which was delicious.
Overall, a fantastic experience and the price point was solid.

This pizzeria is a true hidden gem for anyone who appreciates authentic Italian flavors. The moment you walk in, the aroma of freshly baked dough and rich Italian spices greets you, setting the tone for a memorable meal. Their charcoal oven makes all the difference every pizza comes out with a perfectly crisp yet tender crust, infused with a subtle smokiness you just can’t get from a regular oven. Tiramisu was just fantastic…Sorry I missed the picture for my pizza pie with extra mozzarella and anchovies!

Excellent pizza very close to the best I ever had. I second the dirty silverware, got a dirty fork. Waiter was excellent, had to ask for pepper and cheese though which came in little plastic cups. Every pizza place I go to they are always always on the table. Hard to beat the coal flavor of this pizza its truly unique. I had other coal pizzas that don’t come close to Pepes. Price is steep but you get what you pay for quality wise, exceptional. You can’t find pizza like this in other states, this is really the best.

Ordered cheese pizza online for delivery. Pizza was overcooked and crust was burnt and inedible. Wasn’t a fan of the overly chewy crust and the pizza itself was bland.

10/10. From Patterson, we don’t have many good pizza spots so I’m glad I discovered my new go to place in Danbury. No need for any appetizers because the pizza is that good. Great quick to the point service. Definitely will be back soon!
