Welcome to Franco’s Fish and Chips and Pizza in Stockbridge – Edinburgh. We’ve been serving quality, traditional Fish and chips and authentic Pizza for over 50 years. Our online reviews are humbling and glowing, with praise and plenty of compliments flowing. They love our new pasta range, with carbonara, infused vodka and of course bolognaise. Adoration for our traditional fish, with hot chips to complete a guilty wish. We do vegetarian and gluten free, satisfying every dinner time plea. But the compliment we receive above all others, is when our family ties are discovered. Not a faceless chain but family members, that’s what our regulars choose to remember.

Asked for chicken fillets and received overcooked plain chicken that’s clearly been heated up from a shop packet. What chippy doesn’t batter chicken fillets?! First time trying this place and the last.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I have been coming here for many years and the food was excellent before the new ownership. The food I recieved on my most recent visit was diabolical. I requested to have my fish and white pudding cooked fresh out the fryer. When I got home I realised I was palmed off with the fish that had been sitting in the cabinet for god knows how long. I couldn’t even cut it with my knife as the batter was so chewy. I phoned up to complain and ask for my order to be re made. The “manger/owner” had an attitude on the phone and said I was to eat my pizza first and come back to collect the new fish. I said that we came to eat as a family and i reiterated that I wanted a whole new order which they said they would do. I went into the shop to get my food. I was told by the manager/owner that i was to watch the fryer and watch my fish getting cooked. I asked again about getting a new pizza and i was met again with more attitude. The owner done nothing but give attitude. I said that the customer is always correct and she agreed to this but was still shouting and being aggressive. This was infront of other customers and young children. The service is terrible. I will not return here which is a shame as the previous owners were amazing. Being back Pino Vita he knew how to talk to his customers and give his customers great food.

It saddens me to write this review having been a customer of Francos and resident within the neighbourhood for over 30 years. Standards are getting worse. Three delivery orders in a row wrong. Quality of chips and batter of fish no longer what it used to be. For the price we expect better. Riding on coattails of name but service and quality of food no longer what it used to be. We Keep giving you a second chance out of loyalty but I am afraid will now have to go elsewhere. Chips soggy batter soggy and fish dry.pizza was edible but pizza base and topping not good. As for the kebab……….very disappointing.

A wonderful experience in every way, from the service to finally tasting the delicious food that is prepared with great dedication by the team of chefs. It doesn’t matter if it’s delivery or in-person pickup, the experience will be wonderful. Extremely disappointing. We ordered delivery via UberEats and were given an ETA, as the cut-off time was approaching we requested a tracking update and didn’t hear back. We called the restaurant multiple times and the line just rang out. Our food never arrived and 2.5hrs after placing the order, the app still says our food is “Almost here”.

Most of the negative reviews here seem to have been delivery. I get it as a pickup, so my experience has been generally positive.
Not much to say really, just your very average chippy food. The chips aren’t inedible and dry, but they’re not so moist and plump either. Pizza, onion rings, burgers aren’t half bad either.
I’m a big fan of the tiramisu (that’s not really tiramisu).

I come here on my work breaks for pickup when working late and they’re always very friendly and the food is good. Perhaps a tad overpriced but what can you do these days, very reliable food quality.

I’ve seen 3 owners manage this shop and somehow they all struggle with service. I’ve gotten the wrong pizzas, wrong ingredients or wrong charges multiple times. Just yesterday I was charged £5 more than I should have for a 4 ingredient pizza, should have been around £17 and ended up being around £22. Annoying. I used to go to the Pizza Hut opposite for cheaper but worse pizza just to avoid irritation. I’m honestly glad I’m not coming here anymore.

Not Good . We returned to Edinburgh after 6 years away for a 2 night visit . The first night went to a restaurant , the second I wanted to have fish and chips and walk round the park like we used to do . Well in we go to Francos 2 fish and chips and 1 mushy pees £29.00 + .I questioned how much and was told fish have went up in price ok
plus different staff ? . of we go round the park , well it was nothing like the fish we used to get in short rubbish cheep fish at best almost the worst I have ever had . eat some put the rest in the bucket , As we were going into the Reburn Bar . I went over to tell them about there fish not being good . To be told it was cooked fresh and they were sorry , sorry is not very good when you pay £29.00 that’s when I found out about the new owners . I am sorry to say Edinburgh have lost what was a great fish and chip shop now a cheep copy
