Fast forward. One app and 4 entres, nothing special, no big deal. Then salads came. Nothing much of an issue except THERE WAS A HAIR draped right across the salad. The three or is that didn’t find hair in our salad were completely done before the waitress came back at which point we mentioned the hair although it was too late to do anything.
Then our dinners came. This was the only good part of the service. The food was all correct, cooked well and delicious! Better than I remembered! However this was the one time I remember the food being what I could call “good.” Not over the top, but not all places are. It was good, and a great value for the price.
In all of this, we had to ask for water more times than I can count!! With family who serve, we understand bar service struggles, kitchen struggles, ect. But get me friggen water!! And come back once in a while and ask how we are!!
All in all, I’m less than content with this establishment and to be honest, even with my parents liking it although embarrassed, it will be a long while before I can give them another chance. Very VERY disappointed!!!
Parking lot was full and seemed like a busy “ hopping” place. We were concerned there might be a long wait. I walked up to the hostess station and I was caught off guard by the hostess seemed genuinely concerned for my well being….in a good way. She promptly found us a table and introduced us to Kiley. This young lady took excellent care of us and I was stunned by her ability to take care of us while also taking care of several other tables. Also notice another young lady cleaning off tables who was doing a very thorough job cleaning tables ….and each chair. And now for the food…..perfection! From the salad, to the appetizer, to the entrees, ending with a delicious cheesecake desert. The interior of the restaurant was nice and clean and appeared to be recently renovated……including the rest rooms.
I feel feel the price was fair. In this day and age, people doing a good job deserve to get paid.
Let’s start with the positives:
The food is awesome. Genuinely one of the best menus in the area. Their red sauce is the best I have ever had. I could drink glasses of it. There are no bad options to choose. Some dishes can be overpriced relatively but the dishes will always end up being a good meal.
Their meal specials are always delicious and I especially love the salmon cakes.
The ambiance cannot be beaten in the area. The water views, the dock down below, the patio, it’s all picturesque. They had a recent 2025 remodel which looks great.
The wine list is great and very fairly priced per glass.
Now, let’s get into the flaws and why I felt I needed to make a review after so many years frequenting the place…
The service is AWFUL 90% of the time. More specifically, it can take over an hour to receive food. That’s abysmal. The service is so poor at times that it makes me think: If this place were a new restaurant opening elsewhere, without the views, they’d be out of business after one summer season. Plan to spend 3 hours here MINIMUM.
The parking is horrendous. Not that they can really help that; but I find myself parking at the post office and walking like a half mile…. Ridiculous.
The cocktails are nothing special and are overpriced.
The live music is ok but is super loud and distracts from the otherwise nice eating area. Sometimes it’s loud to the point you can’t hear yourself think.
All that being said I’m giving them a 4/5. Other than the service and other minor issues my family and I LOVE Foxy’s. We just wish the ownership group would care a little more about the customer experience.
While sitting the bartender came out and said we could sit an order food there but that the kitchen was behind so it would be 45/60 min to get out food. We decided that was fine.
The bar area was BUSY, and there were only 2 bar tenders. They were not only waiting on tables, but making drinks for the whole restaurant and people waiting for a table.
Our waitress upper friendly and working her tail off, but from the time she said “I’ll be right over,” to the time she took our order it was at least 45 minutes.
We ordered calamari (which was SO good). Everyone at the table had Italian entrees and the prices/portions were certainly adequate. They were out of veal, but there were plenty of other options to choose from. I liked my husbands shrimp and scallop scampi the best! Chicken parm was good too!
They have a decent sized kids menu for the littles.
The bar area was VERY loud as you can imagine a lot of people waiting for tables.
I’m mixed with this review. We certainly appreciated they were relatively open about the wait. I also cannot fault the employees and it seems they were severely understaffed. At the end of the day the food was really good and I suppose that’s what’s the most important at a restaurant.
I would certainly return with a reservation or at a less busy time.
