This time around we were able to make it there while the kitchen was still serving food, and everything we had WAY exceeded our expectations. The real star tonight was the jumbo grilled shrimp, it was perfectly cooked and the seasoning is fantastic! I also really enjoyed the boneless wings, they’re very tender and delicious.
Absolutely will be returning here frequently for drinks, food, and billiards. Locals to Trempealeau might be very familiar to this place, but to people that live a little further out this is an amazing hidden gem.
Right away, I noticed a troubling inconsistency between the prices listed online and what I was actually charged. Every item was at least a dollar more expensive than advertised, and an automatic service fee was added without disclosure. When I called to clarify whether this fee was a gratuity, the woman I spoke with—Chris—confirmed it was not, leaving me with little understanding of its purpose.
The food itself was unfortunately just as disappointing. The cheese curds were hollow shells of oily batter, the burger was charred yet cold and undercooked on the inside, and the toppings were limp and soggy—having clearly sat too long in grease beside lukewarm fries. It felt like the kitchen was rushing through meals without care for quality or presentation.
What’s most disheartening is how far the restaurant has slipped, possibly due to a change in management or ownership. I truly hope they address these issues, because they once had something special. But until improvements are made, I’ll be dining elsewhere.
What could have been a cozy dive bar is instead a neglected, greasy disappointment. Service was sluggish, and what seemed to be the owner—a standoffish, awkward woman—never acknowledged us, despite us being the only customers. My overpriced burger was an oil-drenched mess, leaving greasy fingerprints on nearly every surface, including the chairs.
Most unforgivable, however, was the glaring lack of ADA compliance. The restroom was completely inaccessible, with the toilet positioned right in the doorway, preventing my mother from using it entirely. This isn’t just an oversight—it’s a failure to accommodate guests with disabilities, making it clear that inclusivity is not a priority here.
Sadly, this place feels more run-down than rustic, and its negligence toward accessibility makes it even less appealing.
