Shut up. Get here now if you can. We were in the city visiting friends and they brought us here. We had a little bit of everything (meatballs, arancini, lamb skewers, porchetta sliders, carbonara, and 3 different pizzas. Everything was delicious. Our friends live within walking distance and we are very jealous.

Delightful ambience and food at the “Speakeasy” style restaurant Forno. Walk through the curtains to the main dining area. If you’re early, sit on one of the couches or the side table. The pizzas are amazing and the drinks are fun and tasty.

Vibey, low light, cozy atmosphere. Food was amazing. The pizza is so good. We had the Goat pizza and the Fennel pizza. We loved both. We had the fried artichoke appetizer, which we absolutely loved. We took additional pizzas to go home with. The co-owner was very friendly and chatty and made us feel very welcome. Excellent service. They have legit Italian sodas and very authentic flavors. Absolutely will be back.

*When you walk in it looks like the abandoned lab of a mad scientist but just keep walking straight, move the red curtain and you’ll find the “speakeasy”.

The porchetta sliders were super flavorful. The arancini equally so. We split the beef cheeks over polenta (which was a special) and it was incredible. The beef was tender and delightfully rich and perfectly matched by the creamy polenta. We’ll definitely come back.

We went there this past Saturday for my Birthday celebration. We went early, had a reservation for 12 people at 5 pm. Everything was amazing! The staff, food and atmosphere (is soo fun)! Best salads I have eaten in forever, great calamari and the pasta dish (rigatoni) with a light cream sauce and I believe pistachios (but don’t quote me on that) that I orderd was delish. As good as I have had in the Maryland/DC area! Parking was easy, at the funeral home next door. Very friendly owner who welcomed us to park there for free! We will be back! 🙂

Warning. I think they’re going for a speakeasy vibe? So when you walk in and its dark and looks closed, keep walking and go through the curtain. We almost left. But keep going!
We had the meatball appetizer which was absolutely delicious. I’m super picky about meatballs and marinara but this was very good. The mushroom pizza was also great. The vibe was a little like the modern version of Good Fellas and super dark/lounge-like. Too dark for me, but I get it. Food was enough to get us to come back.
It seems like they maybe just opened recently so it was very quiet for a Saturday around dinner time. Maybe it picks up later in the day.

This is a great spot from the DiPasqulae’s team! The pizza dough is solid, and they use a nice selection of classic and creative options. The fried artichokes are awesome, as is the Caesar salad – love how they use dried plantain chips on it!!
The speakeasy vibes makes this spot great for date night or a friend hangout, and I’m excited to see how they continue to develop the space. The tables are small and it can get chaotic during busy times – the good news is that your pizzas come out fast, but it’s not always easy to linger and enjoy your wine bottle!

We went there to experience the new speakeasy atmosphere, and it was fantastic. The waiting area featured live music, and the dining space was cozy with low lighting and fireplaces. My favorite part, of course, was the food! The pizza, arancini, and salad were all of excellent quality. I also loved the Italian beer “Birra Moretti.”

Forno Pizza: Baltimore’s Best Kept (Delicious) Secret
Tucked away in the back of the former Di Pasquales in Highlandtown, Forno Pizza isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience. Entering through the familiar market, you’d never guess the culinary magic that awaits behind the unassuming curtain. Stepping through, you’re transported to a hip, intimate speakeasy-style dining room, complete with an open kitchen that crackles with the energy of pizza perfection.
Forget sprawling dining halls; Forno embraces cozy, with maybe a dozen tables creating a vibrant, buzzing atmosphere. Even with a full house, the vibe remains cool and effortlessly chic, solidifying its status as a true neighborhood gem. And let’s be honest, the private parking across the street? A godsend in Baltimore.
The menu is a love letter to Italian comfort, with a strong emphasis on their wood-fired pizzas. While those pies are undoubtedly the stars, don’t sleep on the appetizers. The arancini balls are a crispy, cheesy delight, and the porchetta sliders are simply divine. The kitchen clearly knows how to deliver flavor-packed bites that set the stage for the main event.
The cocktail program is equally impressive. Classic concoctions like espresso martinis, old fashioneds, and whiskey sours are expertly crafted, providing the perfect accompaniment to your meal. Whether you’re a purist or looking for something a bit more adventurous, the bar staff has you covered.
But what truly elevates Forno is the service. Our waiter, Marco, was exceptional. Despite the packed dining room and the constant flow of orders, he remained attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic. He navigated the bustling space with ease, ensuring every guest felt welcomed and well cared for.
Forno Pizza isn’t just another pizzeria; it’s a hidden gem that delivers on all fronts. From the unique speakeasy atmosphere to the mouthwatering food and top-notch service, it’s a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic and memorable dining experience in Baltimore. If you’re looking for the best hidden gem in the city, look no further than Forno. You won’t be disappointed.

Cute and fancy spot in highlandtown. This is in the old D’Pasquale’s location so there’s a combo deli restaurant aesthetic. It’s very dark in there and honestly I had trouble reading the menu at first but my eyes adjusted. The bathroom is a vibe. I was on a date so I felt awkward taking photos but this is what I have. I’m not a fancy lady but this was a really nice spot for a date! I saw they have gluten free crust and vegan cheese, so I’ll hopefully go back for that. We got 2 appetizers and both were excellent!
