This is a spot I lusted after for a very long time and never tried while living in Austin, so when the opportunity came to try during a recent visit I was so excited and F+D delivered the experience I was craving and then some:)
Our server Kunika was so genuinely friendly and conversational, she gave us some great recommendations for wine to pair with the $1 East Coast oyster special (we went for a salt-forward white), and was so present and attentive! All other servers we interacted with were on the same wavelength, making for the most pleasant service experience!
We paired the oysters with Crispy Fingerlings, Gruyere Popovers, Parisian Gnocchi, and Melted Leek Risotto. All of which were exactly what you’d expect, absolutely phenomenal. The popovers and fingerlings were yummy and complexly savory little accoutrements, while both the gnocchi and risotto were absolutely melt in your mouth umami takes on pasta dishes
F+D is so worth the splurge, I can’t believe I waited so long to try!

We went on a Saturday for brunch and were stunned there was seating and we didn’t need a reservation. The host and our waiter were absolutely amazing and were all smiles. The food was pretty darn good. We got the pancakes, a cinnamon roll to share and the Croque Madame. Everything was fantastic with the exception of the Croque Madame. The insides were severely lacking any filling. It was mostly just bread. Regardless, the rest of the meal was still great and that one issue wont stop me from returning and trying it again.

Solid overall. Nice neighborhood spot that wish I had in my area! Food was great but a few slight misses. Pop overs were a bit in the dense side and our duck fat potatoes were under seasoned and didn’t taste much of duck fat. Pasta was solid, gnocchi was incredibly delicate and flavorful. Enjoyed our time there and ready to visit again.

The food here was exceptional, with interesting choices that you don’t normally see. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly and made the dinner quite enjoyable. The popovers are a must have. I enjoyed the pork clod. A healthy portion of protein with a cabbage wrap that had excellent chili oil, mustard and a ginger chive oil.

Incredible restaurant! We had a wonderful brunch there. I really like their menu and the selection of brunch dishes to choose from. We ordered the Ham & Gruyere Croque Madame and the Brunch Burger. Both dishes were delicious and very satisfying. The Croque Madame was served with fried potatoes and an arugula salad, and it was absolutely delicious. The burger was juicy and well-cooked.
We also tried their homemade ice cream—one strawberry and the other basil—and they paired really well together. The service was exceptional. Our server was very attentive and made sure we had a fantastic brunch. I definitely recommend this restaurant!

Sit at the bar. We had an amazing experience at brunch today. I think our seating played a huge part of that. We went hungry. The menu is amazing and I really would have taken anything they offered, it was very hard to choose. We watched as the whole team worked in sync to make the magic happen. Every single plate looked delicious, I was going off that to land on what to eat. We started with the pop overs. Ours were huge and delicious. A visual treat that came through with savory flavor. Had the salad next and it was sublime. We had the frittata and the croque madame. Holy smokes, amazing. Just the treat you would want for a Sunday brunch. The gentleman next to us got the omlette and it looked like a gift from the heavens. I wish we had planned for more of the sweeter side of the menu. The pancakes look like gifts from the gods. It is in an old school Austin area, being from here, this speaks to me. I read a few other reviews and I would highly recommend sitting at the bar and watching the team that makes this one of Austin’s best restaurants. I did not take photos, I was too busy eating : )

If you don’t eat here you are doing yourself a disservice. From the outside, I would never have guessed I would have the quality of food and atmosphere we did. I have had meals at Michelin star restaurants that were not nearly as good, and I have had domino’s orders that cost more.
Do your self a favor and get a counter seat and immerse your self with the amazing staff. The chefs and wait staff were amazing, offered suggestions, and even went as far as offering recommendations for other eateries and experiences for our trip in Austin.
The tasting menu was superb even for someone who’s a picky eater trying to be adventurous. The popover and fingerling potatoes were spectacular. I love all things cheesecake and almost skipped the juniper cheesecake thinking I might not like it. Never been more happy to take a leap for the most exquisite desert.
Do yourself a favor and make the reservation.

Based on my one visit, this place seems to offer top quality dishes. I went for their $1 oysters happy hour on Tuesday- totally worth it!! & also tried a special dish they had that week. I never thought pork and pasta were a match it definitely shocked my taste buds, in the best way. Reservations are recommended specially for happy hour.

The food is great, and the people are even better. The intimate vibe of this restaurant is somewhat unmatched in Austin.
We had a great time sitting and chatting over a couple glasses of wine (happy hour ends at 6:30), and took our time working through appetizers and entrees and a dessert. It’s a place that encourages lingering and savoring.
We had a vegetarian in the group who was really pleased with the selection. All of the shared plates we had were delicious. (The popovers are in fact worth the hype).
I would say this is an approachable menu with interesting flavor combinations that would be familiar if a little new to most. I had the beef rigatoni and it was an amazing combination of your favorite fall stew and a great tomato pasta dish.
The desserts were very shareable as well, with unique combinations made by people who understand how to balance sweetness and flavor.
I’ll be back here for sure, especially for an appetizer and wine happy hour. Highly recommend this stop.

What a cute spot! First time here as I passed through Austin this was the restaurant I made a reservation at.
The food and wine were great, portions were satisfying, the chairs could have been more comfy, some tables are just sitting on and leaning against wood which my back didn’t love after traveling all day.
The only complaint I have is the line cooks chose to clean the grills while guests were still present which filled the room with an overwhelming cloud of smoke and aroma that agitated our senses.
Would recommend and would come back!
