Incredible food. We eat gluten free due to my husband’s intolerance and they were super great about it. Menu changes every day but the day we went 2/13/26 we were able to get most of the menu GF.

No wait. No reservation. We did a walk in at 5 and were seated right away. Our waiter was excellent.

Service and food were exceptional. Lucas was an attentive server who offered great suggestions. We started with the smoked salmon with potatoes and horseradish for an appetizer and old fashions. For entrees we had the the spinach & feta pie with delicata squash with cranberry agrodolce and the hangar steak with collard greens side. We finished with creme brulee and tawny ports.

Had dinner here and ordered the squid, scallops, and steak. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. Being from NYC, I was surprised that the prices here were better and the portions were actually bigger. My server Sydney was nice and attentive throughout the meal. The restaurant has a really cute vibe, warm and cozy without feeling too formal. My only small suggestion would be to play some low-volume jazz when it’s not too busy since it can get a little too quiet at times. Overall, a great dining experience.

This place was amazing. Everything we had knocked it out of the park. Incredible sauces. Whoever the chef is, they are very tallented. Had croquettes, haddock, hangar steak and foie gras roulard. Cant wait to go back!
Edit: we came back the very next night because the food and service was so good. We waited 2 hours to be seated in the dining room instead of the bar. Totally worth it we thought. Started fine but soon the table next to us got on calls to discuss their apartment rent, on speaker. After quite a while we asked why they don’t just take it off speaker since they are already holding it to their ear. They argued, we argued. The manager came by and asked if we wanted to move. We said yes. Then when she came to move us, she asked if we were going to cause additional problems. I questioned what that meant and she stood by it, and I said we would just leave.

Food is decent. Service is good. A little over rated for what it was. Portions were a little small for entrees, but appetizers were decent. A nice little spot to meet up but would check other places for better food.

This was at the top of every restaurant recommendation list for Portland, Maine. So on our mini weekend getaway we knew we had to get a table. A reservation is required, but if line up at 4:00 you might get lucky and get a same day table. That’s what we were able to do. It was just 2 of us and we were in line by 4:13 and lucky enough to get a table the same day! Dinner as absolutely delectable. It definitely lived up to the expectations. I really love that the dining experiences in Portland are largely farm to table, there’s an emphasis on quality of ingredients, such attention to detail, amazing food and the environments are elevated but still more casual. With this caliber of food, I’d expect it to have a dress code, but it doesn’t. I love that. Overall just a lovely dining experience from start to finish. You can feel the pride taken to deliver these beautiful dishes.

I don’t want to give it a 4 but I don’t want to give it a 3 either. We enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. The muscles we had for our appetizer were very good. Unfortunately we ordered the halibut special with orzo risotto for our main with a size of Brussels sprouts and it was flavorless and under cooked and certainly not the right consistency for risotto. It also was nearly 30 minutes between finishing our app and receiving our main. Unfortunately the chairs in the candlelit room are rustic but soooo uncomfortable.

Highly recommend going when they open and getting on the wait list if you don’t have a reservation. We went at 5pm and they were able to seat us around 6:30. We were able to leave and go shopping and get a text when the table was ready.

Our server was wonderful and attentive. The drinks came out quickly and so did the food. Highly recommend trying whatever specials they have, but all the food was great. The oysters were fabulous. Save room for dessert!

Excellent dining experience. Very cool vibe and venue. Our server, Hannah, guided us through the menu and made stellar recommendations based on our tastes and sensibilities. Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious. We were lucky to score a reservation on a day’s notice and when we showed up 30 minutes early they accommodated us and seated us immediately. Worth a stop in Portland!!

Amazing meal at Fore Street! Reservation is highly recommended.

Love the ambiance in here and the wood fired focused menu. Our favorite bites were the heirloom tomato pastry special , mussels, and the pecan butterscotch dessert.

We had the chicken and ribeye for our mains but these were not as standout. Chicken was a very large portion though. The ribeye was a bit thin for our liking. Also tried the blueberry pie (not pictured) but preferred the other dessert.

We hope to return one day! We would plan to share more small plates in lieu of entrees.
