We wanted to go hiking and got a couple of sandwiches packed from here. The shop itself is quite cute, and the seating inside if you want to eat your food there. It was a Saturday morning, and I saw a couple of people enjoying breakfast. my friend really liked their corn beef and pastrami the last time I tried it and that is what we got. The sandwiches were amazing. we ate them hours later, but they had still not become soggy. Definitely recommend.

Continued excellence from Bob the deli king at the Tree of Life Monte Carlo last night. 125 people served lite bites-grilled cheese/tom soup. Nacho bar. Mini pizza. Pasta salad. Mashed potato bar. Veg cups. Fruit. beautifully presented and delicious. He gave exactly what we the hosts asked of him and more. And the number of staff was tremendous. They really outdid themselves. Thank you Bob for continuing to prepare for our events with your heart. Couldn’t have been better!

Stopped here for lunch today as I was in the mood for soup. Definitely not disappointed. However, they only had their staples as far as soups today, which is chicken noodle, matzo ball, and mush mush. As well as chili. Had a traditional Reuben, which was very good. Chicken noodle soup was also excellent. I would definitely recommend trying this place out. Follow for more…

I ordered sandwiches and requested them not be toasted. They were toasted. I know seems like not a big deal but we do not like them toasted. Spent like $50 on order. It’s on my receipt saying not to toast. Just sad cause their food is amazing and I don’t get often unless at Dr apt in Oakland.

This is a tough review for me because the food was tasty, the service was excellent (they did prepare the wrong thing for my wife but she is too timid to say anything) but what she got instead she did enjoy. The inside has plenty of seating and they have outdoor seating as well. I also like this location because it’s close to Oakland but not where all the Pitt students are.

So why the three star review then? The price you are paying compared to the size of the sandwich you get is out of balance. I ordered the number one expecting a triple decker to be decently sized but it just wasn’t. It was in line with a single sized sandwich at primanti brothers which I only mention because everyone in Pittsburgh has had one of their sandwiches so you will understand the size I’m referring to. I would say the New Yorker primanti brothers offers is extremely close to what the number 1 here is like but it’s cheaper and you get a much bigger sandwich so while the sandwich was good they run small. Now I understand this is a small deli and certainly would not have the bulk buying power of primanti brothers so I understand the price difference but if it were me I wouldn’t call it a triple decker even though it has three slices of bread. Triple decker makes it sound like it will be a big sandwich when it’s not.

Now if you opt instead for one of their gravy options such as the beef or meatloaf then you are getting a pretty good deal. I ordered that for take out to have for dinner and that definitely filled me up because of the heavy starch from the fries, the thick gravy, the bread and a nice chunk of beef.

I will also say the mish mash soup I got was really loaded up, definitely more content then broth so again that is a pretty decent offering too.

So you got a mix of the good and the not so great which leaves this at a balanced 3 star for me. Would I go back? Yes and I will but knowing what I know now I’ll stick to the options that we’re good value for money and not order what I thought wasn’t so good.

It’s definitely worth a stop if you are in the area and want a sandwich that, while small, is a good all around sandwich. If you get one of the soups, and you definitely should, you won’t be disappointed. The roast beef and gravy would also be a dish you will enjoy. I certainly did.

The food is top-quality, made with best ingredients and freshly prepared. All the deli staples are here, with large portions and friendly service. Sandwiches (hot and cold) are their specialty, with a good selection of traditional salads and sides, and some soups. The dining area is busy but friendly, perfect for an active, chatty lunch or brunch.

The Jewish Sliders are the best thing on the menu… Between the tender brisket, the potato pancake, and the brown gravy… Lord help me. Service was quick and everybody is friendly. Can’t get enough of this place. Ruebens are ridiculous too.

I had the hot turkey sandwich with fries and gravy. Good comfort food. I would get it again but they have plenty of other items on the menu that sound pretty great.
