Christmas Eve. Twilight. Snow on the ground. A knock at the door. Up from my armchair, slowly walk to the door. “Who’s there?” The answer: “Delivery.” I cautiously open the door and a young man, hatless in the snowfall, hands me a small bag: “A friend of yours in New York sent this for you. Merry Christmas.” It’s a bottle of perfect Spanish sherry. I know immediately who the friend is. Tears of joy . A call to my friend. A cheerful chat. What a wonderful combination of the best of Manhattan and Vermont!
