Very good cousin restaurant to Maiz and Agave Mexican restaurant on the mile, right, next door. Tasty food. Adequate menu. It has a Mexican salsa bar, for those delicious chips they make. Excellent service.

We just visited this restaurant on December 6, 2025 at 11:30 in the morning. The food was out of this world. We ordered the “enfrijoladas” and “enchiladas suizas”. So delicious! The restaurant look very attractive inside and out. Love love love the decor. The only reason I gave this restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the unfriendly service. Friendly service would have made the experience complete! Hope management will take a closer look at this very important aspect of their business.

My fiancé and I decided to try Dona Leonor after having seen it getting ready to open for months. Located right on Coral Gables iconic Miracle Mile this place is just getting started. Situated right next to Maiz y Agave, this restaurant is actually an off-shoot of it. The inside of the restaurant is actually pretty cool. Mexican music plays inside mimicking a traditional experience. The tables and walls are decorated with ornate flower designs. Now for the food, we opted for the Quesabirria and some Mexican breads. The Quesabirria was bomb! The flavor was out of this world. There was an amazing amount of cheese and meat stuffed into the tortilla. The
Consommé was delicious. The pastries were a little lacking unfortunately. The concha was very grainy. What really sold us, was the Horchata! WOW!!! What amazing horchata, which is super hard to find in Miami. Our waiter, Danny, was very helpful in making the experience so much better. Overall though, this was a very nice surprise for a place I’m sure can become a really cool spot in Coral Gables. Go on out and check it out! And until next time folks! Enjoy the meal!!!

If you are only fluent in English, look elsewhere as the waitresses that work there pretend they don’t speak English or actually cannot. My particular waitress was not very helpful but she was much more friendly and attentive to other patrons. I also don’t look Northern European so that may have been a factor in the poor service but who knows. You would expect better service in the “prestigious” Coral Gables area but that is not what I experienced.

Service was great and the atmosphere was inviting. Food was good especially the quesadillas. Unlike in most places that use flour, they used a fried corn tortilla which really elevated the taste. They also have a salsa bar so you can try them all. I really recommend the Sinaloense shrimp quesadilla it was amazing. The 4 star in food is not in reference to quality and more because I find $6 per taco excessive and the menu is a little limited at the moment. They could use more homemade desserts.

I went to Doña Leonor during breakfast time, and I had the best attention from Maria Camila. It was my first time in the restaurant so she explained the menu very good and gave me the best recommendations. I loved having her as my waitress!
