Pancake orders come with two pancakes and a dollop of cream. The pancakes taste like eggs—the main ingredient key to the soufflé fluff in the first place.
The toppings are in my opinion the highlight since most people can make soufflé pancakes at home. The Tiramisu syrup is coffee-flavored/chocolatey and today’s blackberries were good. The Strawberry pancakes had tart strawberries with a generic strawberry syrup. I eat sweets often so I appreciated the light sweetness of the whipped cream on the pancakes.
However, please beware that the plates that the pancakes arrive on are slippery. The tables are very slick and clean—to the detriment of your hardware—so plates have no friction and glide quite easily. I’m not sure what happens if you drop your pancakes but it won’t be pretty.
The fluffy pancakes are not exactly cheap for this college town but if you’re going out to eat then you should plan a budget beforehand anyway.
Also, this not a problem just an observation but there are a lot of Instagram influencers visiting the pancake cafe’s soft opening
We ordered at about 12:15PM on a Sunday, found seating after waiting and standing around for 25-30ish minutes, and waited for about 1hr. for our food for me and my husband.
When we found seating, a party of three had just left and their used plates stayed on the table for ~20-30 minutes while we were sitting there. We understand it was busy, and we’re the kind of people who would have normally put those plates on a tray and wiped down the table if there was a busser station available but there wasn’t, so we just sat there until a worker noticed.
After 1 hour we got our food. Granted, the food was delicious, however my husband’s food was cold. I ordered the pancakes, so I figured they must have waited until our entire order was completed to bring it out. They also only brought 1 napkin for us.
It was a little difficult to enjoy our food due to the fact that every time I was cutting my food, I had to worry about my plate sliding off the table. Also, just because of how busy it was, a lot of people were standing, crowded around in such a small space waiting for any chance for tables to free up that you almost felt like you were being watched like a hawk while eating so they can take over your table after you leave. Lol.
Overall, it wasn’t the best experience service wise or atmosphere wise. I’d like to give this place another chance when the hype has lowered a little bit in a few months because the food was good, it just got overshadowed by everything else.
We waited nearly three hours for just two stacks of pancakes. I understand that new and popular places can have long wait times, but three hours for such a small order is unreasonable. When we finally received our food, the pancakes were clearly raw in the middle. I took a bite and immediately noticed the texture was undercooked. I even had my sister try a piece to confirm, and she agreed they were raw.
We went back to politely ask for a refund or at least an explanation. The pancakes were taken back, but because the restaurant is small, we could clearly hear the staff making comments and laughing about the situation. We were told no refund would be given despite the food being undercooked.
Not only was the wait unacceptable, but serving raw food and then handling the situation unprofessionally made it worse. The experience left me feeling sick afterward, and the way we were treated was incredibly disappointing.
This place is not worth the hype. Between the long wait, raw food, and poor customer service, I would not recommend it.
The soufflé pancakes are next level — incredibly light, airy, and melt-in-your-mouth soft. You can really taste the freshness and care that goes into every order. Not only are they delicious, but they’re also beautifully presented and totally Instagram-worthy. The drinks pair perfectly with the desserts, and everything feels high quality.
The staff is friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. Even when it’s busy, the energy is great and the service stays positive.
If you’re in Davis and craving something sweet and unique, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back again and again!
In sum, fluffy fluffy cafe is not worth the money or the time. Let’s start with the wait. For context we ordered several things such as a Nutella pancake and tater tots. After waiting in line for 10-15 mins (which from other reviews makes me think we actually got lucky in line to order) in a cramped, chaotic space we finally got the chance to order on the single screen at the front. While ordering we noticed that you couldn’t make any modifications to the items with the exception of a few pre-set choices (ex: adding a scoop of ice cream) .
After ordering after no clear place to sit or wait, we waited about an hour for the food. Even tho the screen asks for your number, they don’t provide you with any updates so you have to stand there and just wait. It is a small space that does not hold many tables, with no tables big enough to accommodate more than 4-5 people. A lot of people found themselves awkwardly standing waiting for a table and/or their food. I even saw 2 women standing with their plates full of food that they had finally gotten with no where to sit. Eventually, an employee came over to them and offered to put it in the back for them while they wait for a table but she also said if they waited too long she would put it in a take-out box for them. Can you imagine waiting probably and hour for your food only to give it back? And so much for going “out” to lunch
The pancake was very eggy and the “Nutella” sauce tasted and looked like plain chocolate sauce.
.
I got to try out there matcha tiramisu Japanese pancake which is so jiggly and it was very good. I like how the pancake is very fluffy and not dense. It was actually light and fluffy and Airy which I love. They also give you a side of matcha syrup it wasn’t too sweet but also enhances the matcha flavor which I love. Also I like how it comes with some strawberry slices and always strawberry and matcha pairs really well.
.
I also got to try out there matcha latte And it wasn’t sweet and it was the perfect Balance with milk . I also really like their coffee latte ice which had a really nice honey berry and chocolate notes in the medium roast. The iced coffee was really bold and smooth and not acidic which I really like. Also need to have a refreshing strawberry puree refresher too.
.
They also have your salmon egg Benedict and I was not expecting the first bite with the pickle onions and it was so good when I ate it all together in one bite. It gave a really refreshing savory bite. Also for the biscuit instead of using the regular traditional biscuit they used Japanese fluffy Airy light pancake which was a dream come true for me. It was very different and I love how they paired it with some crispy tater tots and some refreshing balsamic arugula salad.
.
Overall their service was really great and they were really friendly. I cannot wait to come back and try more of their other flavor Japanese fluffy pancakes and their other brunch items as well. Thanks for reading and have a yelp-tastic day.
