Locals loved “The Lake Bar and Grill” and we all know that change is hard. However, sometimes change is necessary and this is probably one of the best changes they could have made.

Spanish Springs’ dining options have been limited for as long as I can remember which, as a lifetime local, is a pretty long time. It’s a small community out here and there was a lot of attachment to the previous establishment. I went in tonight with an open mind and a palate for previous visits to Flowing Tide Pubs across Reno and Sparks.

First off, Sheri is the GM and fielded my calls with questions, beautifully. She’s also just as nice in person. I went inside to get our food to go, through our server Tino who was with me from beginning to end. Great service, considering I was messing with the dine in flow.

There was a wait to be seated for those wanting a table but it didn’t seem unreasonable. There are surprisingly quite a few tables, 18 to be exact, on the pub and grill side with 20 bar seats. The lounge/smoking side has a long bar and four tables too. They really opened the place up!!

While I waited for our to go, I got a lot of nice photos of the food. Everyone was great about me taking pictures too! So if you’re missing The Lake, don’t worry, you’ll be okay.

Portions appear to be more than generous across the board and prices are great for the amount of food you get. One lady’s half order of nachos, (already half consumed) was still huge! A regular cheeseburger was quite large (and had me wanting one!). Everyone I spoke to loved what they were eating.

Now on to what we actually ordered…I got the pot roast which was so tasty. It has a rich, brown, mushroom gravy and the meat was exceptionally tender. Their signature dish is the fish and chips which my mom and husband both had and loved – crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside, cooked to perfection. My little cousin had the quesadilla and she said it was good and one of my grands got the garlic parmesan wings to which she said “my mom needs to step up her garlic game”.

Overall, our experience with #10 was exceptional and I can’t wait to dine in!

This was the first time visiting this place. Food was great but the service was really bad. Our server never offered to re-fill our drinks. She only showed up to drop off the bill. Waited and waited for her to come back to pick up the credit card. She never showed up. I had to get up and take it to her myself! It was just a horrible experience. Not sure that we’ll be going back. Bad service

I’m disappointed in the quality of our visit. I love going to the flowing tide on Prater/Sparks they always have great food and service is always prime. We were seated and bombarded for our drink order with no time to look at the menu. Only to not see the waitress again for another 15 min. Meanwhile mr bouncer leaning over my shoulder for the near majority of my experience should take advice to prop himself up somewhere else. Once she returned we ordered two happy hour shareable appetizers for the three of us & dinner at the same time. Appetizers came out with no napkins, side plates, or silverware. They were dropped off by another waitress that immediately vanished before I could ask for anything else. No checkups at all.. Then twenty minutes went by and dinner came out from another waitress and I finally got to ask our original waitress for napkins and silverware along with a canned drink.. they brought back a handful of napkins and carefully dished out a total of 4 napkins, the silver ware, and plates that were not needed anymore and we never received the drink. The BLT I ordered came out with what tasted like leftover buttered bread from breakfast that was kept warm under a heatlamp beside the bacon, & a pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries that were almost blackened burnt!!! The only edible part were the appetizers and my fries.

Second time! Like I said, I’m a big-time gambler at flowing tide. I usually go to the one on Pater Way. I live right next to the one out in Spanish Springs. The first time we came they did not even comp a drink. I talked to Marco about it. He said he’d make it right. Nobody ever made it right then we come out here again to gamble and they have all the regulars sitting at the bar. I have recorded them for over an hour not one person has even touched the button on a machine, and every single machine is taken. I don’t know how they make money if they give free drink drinks out all day and don’t have people actually gambling. Save the machine machines for people gambling, and you and your buddies can sit at a hightop table. I really think they need to look at the profits between the two and see what’s really going on. Then when you gamble they fight about comping you? Like you will comp the alcoholic not gambling but the people playing you want nickel and dime. Need better management. Twice the servers with half the service of the other locations. The food is not comparable but it’s not bad. One positive….

Don’t DoorDash your food. It comes back smelling like cigarettes! The bartender drinks on the job!! The food is good /ok when you are eating there ( not in the bar) but the to go orders Especially if you are using DoorDash ! Enjoy lung cancer. It’s awful! I can’t even choke it down. Worst customer service, crappy food to go. Avoid.

We will not be back, our waitress was very bad. She kept coming back every 2 minutes then she ghosted us! Where we too slow in ordering? I do not know but I had to go up to the counter to order more. We were not happy with the experience!

Flowing Tide took over for our favorite restaurant and is doing a good job with it, for the most part. Their breakfast menu is somewhat limited, and that’s the time we usually go, but their lunch and dinner menus offer more. The first couple times we went, coffee was served without a spoon to stir in the sugar, so we used forks/knives for it (thought it was odd, but not odd enough to ask for spoons). On our recent visit, a spoon came with the coffee. We have eaten breakfast, lunch, and dinner, during their respective times, and will be returning.

Do not go to the bar side. I left $50 for 3 beers and hit taxables. Since I didn’t leave enough of my winnings they got pissed me off and all their friends tried to fight me. Second time this has happened. Two girls on swing shift, both entiltled lazy bartenders. Then the guy on graveyard was the one that kicked me out. Bully’s across the street has much nicer people who I tipped $100.
