Because I have dietary restrictions related to surgery, I reached out to the restaurant in advance to ask whether accommodations could be made. Unfortunately, during our first visit, that communication didn’t translate smoothly to the dining experience, and the evening felt more stressful than celebratory. To Fleming’s credit, once the issue was recognized, management handled it with professionalism and sincerity.
What truly stands out is what happened next. After my sister contacted corporate, the response was prompt and personal. Conrad, the Operating Partner, and Chef Jared reached out to me prior to our return visit to carefully review my dietary needs and ensure everything could be accommodated. That level of communication made all the difference.
When we arrived for our return dinner, Conrad personally greeted us, immediately setting the tone for an evening that was thoughtful and well orchestrated from start to finish. Chef Meske, who was the chef on duty that evening, went above and beyond, preparing a surprise appetizer of scallops with strawberry salsa that was absolutely over the top. My pork chop was prepared exactly as discussed and was excellent, and everyone else at the table thoroughly enjoyed their meals.
Christopher, our waiter from the first visit, was asked to serve us again and was attentive, solicitous, and personable throughout the evening. With the champagne, desserts, drinks, and even flowers, it was clear that every detail had been carefully considered.
While the first visit missed the mark, the way Fleming’s listened, took ownership, and exceeded expectations on our return speaks volumes about their commitment to hospitality. Mistakes can happen; how they are handled matters far more. Our second visit was memorable in the very best way, and we truly appreciate the efforts of Conrad, Chef Jared, Chef Meske, Christopher, and the entire team.
Conrad the GM. Outstanding!
Chloe our Waitress. Outstanding!
Johnny our Assistant. Outstanding!
Imagine getting the best service of any restaurant in Arizona, that was our experience.
They decorated our table for our Anniversary beautifully. They welcomed us nicely and we can wait to come back!
Best Sea-bass we ever had.
Bravo Flemmings, you guys have a great place for everyone.
My husband said it was the best Cob salad he’s ever had. Even better than Vic and Anthony’s in Vegas.
The scalloped potatoes were delicious.
They also expertly accommodated the children in our party, offering a flexible 3 course menu for the little ones.
Thank you again for a wonderful experience.
We had a leisurely dinner in a sumptuous booth mid-restaurant, far enough away from the demonstration kitchen to see what the chefs are conjuring but not so close as to be distracted. We especially appreciated the jazz playlist that complements the restaurant’s sophisticated, understated elegance, played at a level that permits normal conversation but loud enough to be heard and enjoyed — a welcome relief from the club-level volumes of whatever it is that passes for music these days foisted on patrons, like it or not, in so many venues.
We ordered the Tomahawk Tuesday offering from the menu, which includes two salads, two sides, and two desserts at an attractive price. The preparation was uniformly excellent and the flavors exquisite, from the tangy blue cheese, crispy bacon, and tender, sweet campari tomatoes adorning the wedge salad, the perfectly crisp but not overdone brussels sprouts (more bacon; can there be too much?), and the creamy chipotle cheddar mac and cheese, to which our waitress, the fabulous Karina, recommended we add lobster (fresh and tender) for a modest additional sum. All this is not to overlook the mouthwatering tomahawk which was prepared exactly as we ordered it: medium, on the lean side, light on the salt. Somehow, we found room to indulge chocolate lava cake (served with vanilla ice cream scooped in house-made tuile cookies) and New York cheesecake. We took home plenty of leftovers of each course and look forward to a home version of Fleming’s excellence in days to come.
Our waitress, Karina, and the staff who work with her, know their business perfectly. They are attentive but not overbearing, time courses and water refills perfectly, offer excellent recommendations, and make the Fleming’s dining experience precisely what a great steakhouse experience should be. Ditto for the fine ladies who greet and seat you and the manager who stopped at our table to make sure everything was as it should be.
Fleming’s North Scottsdale Road location is a great place to spend a couple hours if you’re seeking the Great American Dining Experience.
We had a reservation booked in advance for a Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM. Upon arrival, the restaurant was not particularly busy, and we were seated promptly. However, we sat for 15 minutes without being greeted. After that time, someone came by to offer us bread. 10 minutes after, a server approached and informed us that our assigned server was “too busy” to take our drink order, so she kindly stepped in to assist.
About 15 minutes later, she returned with our drinks and let us know that our original server would not be taking care of us, as she was still “too busy”—despite the fact that we had been seated well before other guests. To our surprise, we noticed that she begin serving another table that had arrived 15 minutes after us. That was disappointing and made us feel overlooked.
Fortunately, the server who stepped in was excellent—attentive, friendly, and professional. She took our dinner order, ensured all of our needs were met, and made the rest of the evening more enjoyable. The food was very good, though our steak was a bit fattier than expected.
What left the biggest impression was the lack of initial hospitality. I’ve dined at other Fleming’s locations and have always had exceptional experiences, which is why this visit was so disheartening. I usually rave about Fleming’s, but this visit made me question my loyalty to the brand.
To their credit, the manager offered to make things right by inviting us to try a different location, which I genuinely appreciated. However, I will likely avoid returning to this specific Scottsdale Road location in the future.
