The restaurant was empty, maybe 3 tables were set, we waited for our server for a good 5 minutes just to greet us. Our server Luis (I believe is his name since he never introduced himself) took our order without writing it down, and of course when we received food (after more than 20 minutes for soup and salad in an empty restaurant), the order was wrong.
Our server never approached the table to ask how is everything or if we needed anything else, neither during our first course, neither during our main course. There was basically no connection between us, completely ignored by him.
No personality, no customer service, just bad experience is what we had. If that is kind of staff we are having in restaurants now, we are going the wrong path.
Steaks were ok, potato pave that came with the NY strip was burnt completely, inedible, steak was overpowered with sauce…and so on..
We chose Flemings besides of dozens of restaurants and we deeply regret it.
We were promptly seated per our 7:00 o’clock dinner reservation… at a table set for five.
It was a bit of an awkward moment not knowing exactly how to position ourselves at such a large table, but we made do.
Our server appeared almost instantaneously, introduced herself, removed the excess place settings, brought us sparkling water ($9) and a couple of ice-cold martinis ($16 each).
So far, so-so.
So-so, not just because of our seating, but mostly because the restaurant’s noise was still, after all these years, at that “singles bar” level. We considered leaving then but decided, against our better judgement it turned out, to stay.
The dinner special, consisted of two options: either a petite filet or a bone-in ribeye each with crab stuffed shrimp and a salad. ($68 and $85 respectively) My wife opted for the filet and I chose the ribeye. We also selected an order of Fleming’s Potatoes as a shareable side. ($19)
The Fleming Salad consisted of walnuts, cranberries, onion, Campari tomatoes and a balsamic vinaigrette. Tasty enough but nothing exceptional. So far… so-so.
The timing of the entrées was perfect. Unfortunately, when delivered, mine was placed on the table a bit too close to me. When I pushed the plate away, I scalded my fingers. The manager apologized and said I should have been told my plate was too hot to be touched.
My wife’s medium-cooked filet was juicy and tender. My medium-rare bone-in ribeye was not particularly flavorful or tender. Each steak was served with a dab of spinach and two small, crab stuffed shrimp which were dry and tasteless. The Fleming Potatoes (au gratin potatoes, with a cheddar and Monterey jack blend, leeks and jalapeno) were delicious.
My wife had a second martini, and I opted for a glass of Stags Leap Petit Syrah ($24)
Our coup de grace, was a decadent dessert of Bananas Foster; a creamy, custard-soaked bread pudding with a caramel, rum and banana topping. ($16 each)
Our overall dining experience was not good. Poor value for the price, inconsistent food quality, unrefined atmosphere and noise, and service snafu does not equate to a high-end steak house experience. Our total for the evening with taxes and tip was $365.00.
If you’re looking for a place where food, service, and thoughtfulness come together in perfect harmony, look no further than Fleming’s in Naples. I recently brought my wife Erin here to celebrate her birthday, and what unfolded was nothing short of spectacular.
From the moment we were seated, the staff made us feel like royalty. Our server, Henry Berrette, asked right away if we were celebrating anything special. When he found out it was Erin’s birthday, the entire team went into action. They brought over a beautifully handwritten birthday card, a complimentary glass of champagne, and even took a framed photo of us to take home, a keepsake we’ll treasure forever.
Now let’s talk food. The wedge salad was unreal. It was hands down the best salad I’ve ever had in my life. Every bite was so good, I almost embarrassed myself licking the plate clean. The steaks were cooked with absolute precision. Tender, juicy, and seasoned perfectly. The Fleming’s potatoes were rich and satisfying, but the real surprise was the Corn Brûlée. A sweet, savory, creamy twist on corn that I could not stop eating.
We ended the meal with the chocolate lava cake, and let me tell you, this dessert could easily bring a grown man to tears. It was warm, decadent, and flawless. The perfect sweet note to cap off an extraordinary evening.
But what truly elevated the night from great to unforgettable was Henry. He wasn’t just a server. He was a gracious host, a joyful spirit, and a true professional. His warmth, attention to detail, and genuine care for our experience made all the difference. If you visit Fleming’s in Naples, request Henry Berrette by name. You’ll be glad you did.
To Henry and the amazing team at Fleming’s, thank you for making Erin’s birthday not just a meal, but a memory.
Our first visit ordered the filet very rare and it was perfectly seasoned and crusty on the ends and wonderfully red and warm in the middle, nice to have a kitchen know what rare really means.
