Reviews
I am genuinely shocked by how many positive reviews this place has, because after my experience, it honestly feels unreal. Either people have extremely low standards, or there is a serious disconnect between what is being served here and what these dishes are supposed to be.
This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had in my life. I eat Indian food often. I am familiar with these dishes. I enjoy this cuisine. What I was served here was careless, poorly executed, and frankly disgusting.
The mango lassi was the first sign that something was very wrong. It tasted like straight mango juice overloaded with sugar. No creaminess. No yogurt flavor. No balance. Just aggressively sweet and artificial. This was not a mango lassi in any real sense. It felt rushed, cheap, and completely wrong.
The biryani was an absolute failure. The seasoning was wildly unbalanced, with one spice completely overpowering everything else. What tasted like an excessive amount of cumin dominated the dish to the point where no other flavor could come through. There was no layering, no aroma, no depth. On top of that, the ingredients were completely incorrect. There were random green onions mixed in, which do not belong in biryani at all. The photos clearly show how chaotic and incorrect it looked, and the taste matched exactly. It felt like someone with no understanding of the dish threw random ingredients together and hoped for the best.
The goat curry was just as bad, if not worse. The flavors made no sense. Random, harsh, and poorly balanced. The goat itself was extremely dry and unpleasant to eat. On top of that, I was given two massive chunks that were mostly bone with barely any actual meat on them. Paying for a goat curry and receiving mostly bone with dry, poorly flavored meat is unacceptable. This dish was flat-out disgusting.
The butter chicken was incredibly underwhelming. It leaned far more toward being watery curry than butter chicken. Very little chicken, no richness, no creaminess, and none of the comforting flavor this dish is known for. It felt like an afterthought rather than a properly prepared dish.
The most embarrassing part of this entire meal is that the only thing that was even remotely edible was the plain rice. When plain rice is the best thing on the table, that says everything.
After eating this food, I became extremely sick. I was nauseous and ended up throwing up for nearly an hour afterward. I have never had this kind of reaction after eating Indian food before. This completely ruined my night and left me feeling awful for hours. Whatever the cause, the result was alarming and unacceptable.
What stood out most about this entire experience was how careless it felt. The flavors were either aggressively wrong or completely absent. The ingredient choices were questionable at best. The execution was sloppy. There was no attention to balance, authenticity, or quality. It felt like no one cared about what was being served.
I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was bad enough that I feel obligated to warn people. There are countless Indian restaurants that actually respect the cuisine and know how these dishes are supposed to be prepared. This is not one of them.
Final warning to anyone considering eating here: do not let the number of positive reviews fool you. Based on my experience, this place is not worth your money, your time, or the risk of feeling sick afterward. Save yourself the disappointment and go literally anywhere else. I will never be returning.
My friend ordered the chicken chow mein and I got the chicken korma. Both of those were also amazing. The butter naan was good.
The next day I ordered to go. More chicken korma for me, goat curry for my bf, and garlic naan. All was great again.
The one and only thing I didn’t like was the masala tea. It had a stronger scalded milk flavor than anything else. Very underwhelming but okay.
I was really looking forward to trying this place, but unfortunately, the food fell short in several areas. While I appreciate the effort, the dishes lacked the depth of flavor that Indian cuisine is known for. The spices didn’t taste properly balanced or developed, and some items seemed undercooked or hastily prepared.
Presentation aside, the overall experience felt like the recipes and execution still need a lot of refinement. I’d recommend the team take more time to work on authentic preparation techniques and quality control before serving the public. I believe there’s potential here, but right now, it needs more work to be up to par.
I am revising my old review because I have been here again since Nov. They catered a large party and their noodles were delicious- brought back all the memories of the Indo Chinese street food growing up. So I decided to try them again. 3 times since Nov in restaurant and 1 home delivery and they haven’t failed me on taste in Indo Chinese. Ruby recommended trying Paneer Chilli which is still not officially on the menu and OMG- it ie just mouthwatering. The are now able to cater to the spice levels as well. Whenever I crave some Indian street style food, this is my to go place now.

After having dined in and ordered online 5 times, I am in a safe spot to write a review.
Visit 1 (On the day of opening). My son ordered pani puri & I ordered potato chilli with Veg Hakka noodles. The server forgot to give us water and the pani puri was so hot that my son was literally crying. The water came in much later. The spice levels in potato chilli and Veg hakka noodles were super high too. I gave them the feedback, but gave them the benefit of doubt given it was their first day in business.
Visit 2 (the very next day). My husband wanted to try their food, so I asked him to get a veg hakka noodles – mild for us. It was anything but mild.
Visit 3 (placed an order over the phone and specifically asked to tone down the spice levels in the veg hakka noodles). It was a bit toned down, but still hot.
Visit 4 (phone order for pickup)- chole kulche- aloo kulche and paneer kulche. I insisted 2-3 times to make it 0 level of spice because I have a 9 year old who would be eating it. When I went to collect it, the food wasn’t ready, so I again asked to make sure that it wasn’t hot. I was told that it was all toned down. When we got down to eat, it was hot as hell – even the kulche.
Visit 5 (dine in) decided to give them one final try. This time there was a hispanic waitress. Told her to specifically tell the chef 0 spice level. Ordered sweet corn soup, veg momos, chaat papdi and chole bhature. The waitress came back to say that the soup is not in season. I mean this is the season of corn! So I asked for another soup. Then the Indian lady came up to say that soup will be available during winters! Why have it on a summer menu then?!! Next the veg momos were sold out. Chaat papdi was level 10 spicy. My son spilled his water and he could not tolerate the spice level. No one ever came back for refills. Chole was toned down a lot more than in the past, but bhature weren’t puffy. The seating just kept us exposed to seeing the restroom each time someone wanted to use it.
I am a north Indian who likes hot food. I also cook regularly enough to know that hotness level can definitely be adjusted in Indian cooking. If a restaurant in business cannot cater to these basic fundamentals, this place is not for me.
Overall, our experience at flavors of India was, to sum it up in one word, Decent. The service was pretty good and quick, considering that the restaurant was more than 50% occupied.
The chicken 65 was delicious and packed with spice and flavor. The chicken tikka presentation was amazing, like that of a sizzler, but the taste and texture could be improved upon, it was overcooked and the flavor was not up to point. The mango lassi was a little heavy on cardamom, but still delicious! On the other hand, the coffee was more like Horlicks rather than the coffee flavor.
We got the Rogan Josh and Kadai chicken (served with rice) and garlic naan for our main course, they all both pretty alright but nothing to rave about. That said, the quantity was on the lower end.
The restaurant opened very recently so they do have scope for improvement. The pricing of the dishes was also a little weird considering that the appetizers we ordered were either the same cost or more expensive than the main course. Also, the quantity of the main course was not that great. They should either increase the quantity for the price quoted or decrease the price and keep the quantity same. The ambience also leaves something to be desired because it feels very random and the dining room is weirdly laid out.
Will I be returning? Maybe, but only to try the chicken 65, mango lassi or something new. Among the three Indian restaurants in the South Bend Mishawaka region I rate this the second best.
The customer service was excellent — everyone was so kind, welcoming, and eager to help us choose since it was our first visit. The food came out fresh, hot, and beautifully presented.
We left full, happy, and already talking about what we’re going to try next time. If you’ve never had Indian food before, this is the place to start. We will definitely be back!
